Forums - Nintendo Discussion - What game would make you buy a Wii U?

New Super Luigi U made me buy it, and Bayonetta 2 would do too!

The combination of the NSMB/Luigi U bundle at $300 and Mario 3D Land finally made me cave in a buy a Wii U. Plus, Best Buy had a black friday deal, which was for an extra $20 you also get Nintendoland and a Luigi themed Motionplus controller.. Deal was too good to pass up!

I feel sorry for those that bash the Wii U and don't buy it. It's not that expensive and there are plenty of games currently out for it that easily warrant a purchase.

You guys are seriously missing out on some great games that can not be found anywhere else. If you don't have Wii U as a complement to either Xbox One or PS4, you are a "hardcore fanboy" and I pity you.

LOL oh dear please enlighten us with these AMAZING exclusives on Wii U

^AMEN.  Am I missing out on Killzone, Dark Souls, InFamous, MGS, The Order, Uncharted, and whatever GG is making next?   No?!  Just ANOTHER mario and Zelda?  PASS!

LOL i wouldnt even go that far. Their are alot of games that most likely WONT be going to WIi U that will be available on PS4 xone, hell seems like the entire EA staple is gonna miss that console. Now he says that Wii U is a complement, but i dont even see that. Unless you like Ninty games, but if you could care less then their is no reason to buy it.

What I want to know is how anyone has enough time to play all of these games on 3 consoles?!

I never liked Gears of War, Fable, or Halo; but even if I did there would never have been enough time for me to play all of them enough to justify the $60 purchaseses when Sony was releasing 6 great exclusives a year + AC and BF.

New Zelda titles always get me interested. Almost all Nintendo systems that I have bought, I bought with a new Zelda.

And I think 1 500-2 000 RMB is a good price for Wii U.

X or Dragon Quest X or Super Smash Bros.

i feel the same way man, some people have no lives outside of games i guess. Hell TBH i could have just had the PS3 the entire gen and been perfectly fine. and PSP as my portable.

I already got one. But If I didn't, then the same reason I bought the Wii, Donkey Kong Country.

e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

I never understand the point of these threads let alone peoples replies.

I'll get it when zelda comes out or smash or mario kart.

Like they are coming out so buy the console. Be like Sony and Microsoft fans, they support their console knowing great games are coming.

Imagine if ever Nintendo fan though like the responses here then the Wii probably would have sold 500K units by now. Those kind of sales would probably lead to a discontinued console and no zelda, smash or mario kart.

TO be fair and you are not going to like this, so prepare to flame. BUt Sony and MS fans support their consoles because their consoles have been and is getting supported. You CANNOT say the same for all of Ninty consoles. I mean support across the board 1st AND 3rd party. Hell even when PS3 was getting whupped it was still getting games, sure they werent exclusives and were shared with 360 but thats a hell of alot more than what Wii U is getting, its not even getting some of the multiplats from PS360 and those have been around for years, NVM the next gen ports. Outside of Watchdogs, I dont know what its getting next gen wise.

OT. Buying a whole console for one game has always been foolish to me. I need about 3 games to even consider a purchase and honestly right now the only thing on WIi U that im interested in is Zelda and it better look close to that tech demo. Matter of fact ill just wait for that.

I agree with you in that regard about the support. However I didn't want to bring up the fact if your console sells well then 3rd parties are more likely to support it. This  would stir up other old arguments such as 3rd parties don't try on Nintendo systems etc.. and arguments around weak hardware which allows 3rd parties to port games etc.. these forums had all this argued to death already.

We already seen excuses on the forums for why people arn't buying games like COD ghost, poor frame rate = no buy. Hell PS4 had frame rate issues. Both versions got patches to fx these issues. COD ghosts runs pretty well for what the Wii U is hardware wise. However to be fair there are a few games which are total waste of time liek batman outsourced and being worst than the port. However BS excuses shouldn't be used on all games when a developer has put in effort.

Note my comments only apply to people with one console brand in each gen not multi console owners who have options.

With scalable engines these days, there is no good reason for top publishers not to release games on WIi U, however the users must show support the games like you said otherwise they will not show interest similar to VITA, but even so VITA seems to at least be getting some decent games.

Heres the thing though, those old arguments were never true about 3rd parties not trying, ever. They were just the rantings of Wii owners who were mad they werent getting GTA5, RE5, AC, etc. Either completly ignoring the fact those games couldnt be made for the Wii(not even close to as powerful as either PS3 or 360) or ignoring the different demographs that WIi had(sales support this, especially sales of Wii U multiplats) 3rd parties put the games on the WIi they thought would and did sell, pretty much your dancing, minigame exercise stuff. So 3rd parties supported the Wii alot anyone who says otherwise was just too cheap or too much of a fanboy to buy a non Ninty console or even PC.

I disagree with the last paragraph, engines only play a small role, if the games arent going to sell on Wii U(and right now they really arent) then publishers have a great reason not to release games on Wii U.

Perhaps my choice of words was not well written. Engines can be scalable however as I said, developers won't invest the money to do it if they know they will not get enough sales to warrant it. If they knew a game that sells say 5million each on xbox one and ps4 could sell say 1million on Wii U, then they MAY invest the money into a more scalable engine optimised for the Wii U to port their games over as it would still bank them a nice little profit. However evidence to date has shown misreable sales and lost profit.

exactly

Skies of Arcadia 2, or an awesome Sonic game that I feel I can't live without (Sonic: Lost World is not that game). Assuming that said games were Wii U exclusive, of course.

Another price cut would be important, but it wouldn't be enough. Even if the Wii U dropped to $100 tomorrow, I wouldn't pick one up until there was an exclusive that I felt was a must-have. Without that game, it would be a waste of $100.
