Forums - Sony Discussion - Blown away by PS4 ACIV. 1080p matters.

Of course it is a huge difference, only people saying otherwise are just doing damage control. AC4 looks vastly better after the patch.

All I know is that the game looks incredible, plus it is my first Assassin's Creed title.

It is a great game. So much fun.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

I play a 100" projector, so it may be more obvious for me, but there was a huge difference

When we started using our PS4, we could get the PS4 update but no PSN so no AC IV update. My brother played through the first section and it looked decent, but not hugely impressive

I waited until the evening when everything was working properly and it was so much more impressive. I'm glad I waited 3 weeks for it

(Really great game by the way!)

I keep reading good things about it but after how hyped I was for AC3 and how disappointing it ended up being.   I'm skeptical about new AC games.

Do you recomend it ?

Well I liked AC III...

I'm only about 4 hours in, but having a great time so far. I probably haven't played enough to fully reccomend it though yet

Maybe my eyes are bad, but I honestly cannot tell the difference.

I think the only reason some people say it doesnt matter is because X1 surprised us by rendering games at 720p...

Before that EVERYBODY was on the 1080p Next gen train.

no, i always said that i see it on my tv because of the distance i sit to it but when i look at how my firends look at their tv they won't really see a difference with them sitting on the couch with a table and some extra space between their eyes and the tv in the living room. they would maybe see a little difference but wouldn't care.

and many people simply don't care about it. cod was the game with the worst resolution last gen and it is also the best selling franchise. and i never heard the cod fans in the games complaining about how the game doesn't look as crisp as the 720p games on the console. all they said was "woahh sooo awesome"

what i really would like to see once is if a gaming magazine would put 720p, 900 and 1080p versions of some pc games on different tv sizes with all other settings exactly the same and let some other people look on them from different viewing distances starting with a big difference and would have to say when they really have the feeling that one picture loks better as the other. they shouldn't know which tv has which version running so that they wouldn't have a clue before this test about what this even is about.

would be really interesting but all you ever get is a "i see no difference or you can see a difference" without even mentioning in which environment they tested it.

So far AC4 sucks... Hey I am a pirate. Hey I want this 100 coin, and now I am an assassin. And we gotta get through more gay Animus stuff, like stop! Make the creed games just about the time period. Rename it "The Creed" or something if they can't get away from the same stupid assassin look. Anyways, it has fun combat, they shouldn't ruin it with a story no one cares about done in a "new" variation.

I only have a TV that can handle 720p wife wont let me buy a new one :(

PS4 version of Assassin's Creed IV has received a 1080p patch and holy shit... it matters. The graphics are so crisp and detailed I can't help but think how much better this is than 720p presentation.

How come people can't notice this difference? It's absurdly better than 720p.

In fact it does look so prettier mainly because they removed the shitty FXAA for a real anti-aliasing. It looks sharp as any 1080p decent game without FXAA has looked on PC since this last decade-ish.

Console developers are just discovering, (after 7 years of shameful wrecking their own games), that there are others solutions than applying a blur filter to remove jaggies.

BTW It was 900p before the patch on PS4 and still is 900p on X1.

After 7 years of vaseline applied by default on consoles, one day, one Ubisoft Developer just fall upon a Crytek game on X1: Ryse with its cheap and sharp as possible SMAA 1x.

- Guys, why don't we use SMAA instead of FXAA, it is just 1ms instead of 0.7ms GPU expensive, not even 1fps average more costly... I mean that's just ridiculous we could remove this awful blur filter...

- But we couldn't find the line on the settings.INI file last time we looked. Some intern wrote FXAA...somewhere in the settings.INI file 7 years ago...couldn't find where exactly...

Suddenly one in a century stroke of genious fall down on one developer. They all forgot the magic word to be written just after FXAA!

- Open settings.INI, CTRL-F "FXAA-shitty", replace all by "SMAA-goody", enter. "It's done boss!"

- While you are at it, could you find 44% raw performance in the PS4 and up the res to 1080p?

- CTRL-F "900p-ReviewsParityBS", replace all by "1080p-NoJokeGameAt900pRunsAt70fps", enter. "It's done boss!"

Because people get a lot of their impressions from Youtube videos. The difference between 720p and 1080p footage is hard to pinpoint when you're looking at compressed footage.

It doesnt matter if you have dat magic upscaler. The difference is not visible.

RIP ps3, xbox360.

welcome home ps4 and X1
