Should Nintendo just put the proverbial Pillow over the DS's face finally?

I know that it is Christmas time and sales will be up across the board. But In my area of the United States there seems to be no one selling new DS systems at the moment.

I have found more PSP systems with Digital games downloaded to them than new DS systems. Heck! You can even find the original Sega System with about 70 digital classic games in it more than the DS.

So if they are not going to have any systems anywhere, and it is not going to make any ground at all on the PS2, then what is the point of it at all?

The only place I have seen it is Gamestop, where they are mostly selling it used.

I think they should just cancel it already. It had a good life.

Sorry if this has already been talked about, I have been away.

Just makes me sad. Why does it make me sad? Because nothing in life, even my Grandpa's death fazed me at all, but a DS system selling like this when it used to be great brings sorrow to my heart.

I just think that if they are going to keep it out, put it in the paper for some crazy cheap price! $49.99 new in the box!

I know that Nintendo is worried about their 3DS/2DS systems sales in the West still, so that is why they are probably not doing this, when the DS could have had a huge last holiday. But then why sell it at all? If someone still wants one they can buy it used. So it is not like they are doing the customer a disservice.

Wan't to throw your thoughts out there on this for the 100'th time? If not, thanks for stopping buy. Leave a gif of Mario doing a jig if it pleases you.

Did it happen in the past few weeks? If not then it was only in Japan.

Hmm, they've been funny about it no longer giving it forecasts.

Anyway, yes Wii and DS should be retired early next year.

Yes, they should.

so all hope that it could outsell the ps2 is gone? DS would be the perfect consoles for poor countries like the phillipines - affordable and has many good games. I think this is why the ps2 had such godly legs

Well if they have stopped it. Good. Just kind of looks bad in my opinion. Just let the 3DS shine now.

I guess not if they're still making profit off it.

I think Nintendo  Should give it at least 1 or 2 years using this type of business model. If VGChartz is correct, Wii almost outsold Vita this week (and now Vita is combined to Vita TV).

But I think the Wii could stay here for many years, if Nintendo did as Sega, but remaining manufacturing the console itself. For example, here in Brazil, more directed to kids and maybe oldschool gamers, still sells Master System and Mega Drive in significant quantities.

Look at this: http://www.walmart.com.br/google?refs=320471&fq=C:401/535/536&PS=20&O=OrderByTopSaleDESC&utm_source=google-pla&adtype=pla&utm_medium=ppc&utm_term=320471&utm_campaign=Games---Tec-Toy---Consoles-Master-System

In 2012, Master System and Mega Drive sold 150k only in Brazil:

Now, imagine a Wii with a 10 games in memory for $ 99 or less? Games like Wii Sports, Mario Kart Wii, New Super Mario Bros, Mario Galaxy, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Wii Party, and go on, I think this way the console could remain relevant for many years and would certainly achieve relative success in developing countries.

And it has Mario....

The Wii has a bunch of sought after games, the Wii mini, and some great/cheap bundles. It is not that far out that the Wii could do this. The only problem is that it is probably stealing sales from the Wii U. Or would people just go out and buy used one's anyways?

The 3DS/2DS is a beast now in all areas and I think the DS could live side by side with it. I want to call gamestop to make sure it is done. If it was still being shipped anywhere it would be there.
