Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why the hate for androgynous characters?

I honestly don't find most characters that get criticized for being androgynous, actually look androgynous.

They have some feminine characteristics, but for the most part in games I can tell who's a guy and who's a girl.
There's some people who I've met that I honestly can't tell.

I'm half Japanese though, and have been in both Japanese Culture and US Culture through a lot in my life. Though.

I do not look up to androgynous people in real life. I do not want to vicariously go on a deadly adventure with some man/woman. They should be distictly feminine or masculine. Japanese culture kind of wiggs me out in general. I feel no shame for this.

That's a pretty narrow way to look at people imo. Some men look feminine. Some women look feminine. It's how the world is. If men want to look feminine then that too is fine. Hell, if a man wants to cross dress, that too is fine. Society needs to stop looking at "Men" and "women" and start judging people by who they are and not their genitals.

Only looks feminine if you believe so. To me this is just normal

(only posted so I could post a pic of Jaejoong)

I'm very insecure :(

It's probably got a lot to do with culture tbh. I've grown up exposed to a healthy dose of Western and Eastern cultures so I'm probably more open mined about this than most same will go for most people like that.

I cannot quote you because of dumb comp I am on now.

Anyways, this seems like you want more of an off-topic than a video game topic. People will judge people for everything. I am juged as white, male, blue eyed, muscular, my American accent, medium height, my age, my dark hair, the fact I am starting to bald, my better than average looks , my clothes, my voice etc. Basically we are judged by many things and I do not think we can do anything to change this. But, anyways I think you are pushing replies to your original topic to apply to things they were never intended to. Meaning strongly applying our answers to on video games to reflect upon how we live or everyday lives.

I'm not pushing for that at all. I just want to know why people hate the androgynous characters, I haven't seen a single excuse yet that doesn't translate as "because they don't look like their sex" which is a load of bollocks.

That guy, like Justin Bieber and the 'One Direction' guys, looks very feminine to me. I think it's fine to be whatever way you are, but I do not find them attractive at all.  These young girls I know asked me which 1D guy I would want to marry, they didn't like my answer of 'none of them.'

I think the dislike of androgeny has to do with the ambiguity of the characters.  Some people just have a hard time when things aren't completely spell out for them.  Just like some people only line mainstream movies and not indy ones.  It makes them feel funny and they don't like it.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

That's also a pretty good point!

Androngynous lifestyle has a cult following in the states. In the teen scene its mostly Anime wanna-be Japanese cosplayers though.
