But yeah Nintendo still has a chance with Wii U, it has the advantages all first to market had: price, more games, bigger install base for now.

And when do you expect that to happen? The PS2 was produced and sold until the PS4 announcement.

Yup, it will. But Nintendo can finally say that their machine, in that line of price, is more powerful, has great games coming, great couch features and is backwards compatible. Wii had a great selection too and the most surprising game of the generation in Mario Galaxy IMO.

Could be a very long time before the current gen ends granted, but would Sony pull the plug on PS3 if it was seriously hampering PS4 sales? Like i said, its a very saturated market out there. I hope all the big 3 can carve out success with their next gen products, but i dont see the astronomical sales of the current gen being repeated.

Maybe thats the problem. Nintendo are hoping just because people grew up with their games they will keep buying them for the rest of their lives.

There are some people that carry on doing what they used to do when they were 8 years old, but most people change.

Sony and MS offer games for a much wider audience than nintendo do so its natural they can expect more sales.

MS on one hand have kinectimals while on the other have gears of war.

I know nintendo are trying to broaden their demographic, with games like zombieU & bayonetta, but why would they pick that game to do it when it couldnt even manage 2m sales on ps360? and 1 game a year isnt going to cut it, they need 2-3 hardcore exclusives every year to raise a level of expectation from consumers that it wont only be making kiddy games anymore.

Longevity is really only an issue when there is no backwards compatibility.  If Nintendo introduces a new console that is fully backwards compatible with Wii U they would be OK.

They did think it through, but assumed more third party adoption than they got. Without broad-based support, that's when the strategy falls apart.

If by "people doing the same as if they were still 8" means playing great quality games, count me in. Sega made games by that time but now their situation is almost irrelevant as to what it was in the past. Same goes for Konami (my personal favourite growing old) - which today only relies on football and one or other good game - Square, Capcom and others, to talk about the ones that could go on (Acclaim died, THQ died and so forth. Plus, I think you meant to say "keep on" instead of "carry on").

Not Nintendo! They kept releasing incredible games since the time I was 8. For the more "mature" games that people insist in saying are for the ones who grew old (and usually teens say that) , I can always use my PC, thank you.

The fact that, aesthetically, some games Nintendo develops look kiddy has nothing to do with the experience. But you can always suit yourself to not liking them. I respectfully think its your loss.

Wii U is less powerful than the ps3 and 360. It is also more expensive than both. The ps360 have an amazing library of games. Online is better on ps360 and third party will continue to support sony and microsoft consoles for 2-3 years. Wii U needs the soccer moms and elderly back to succeed. Nintendo themsleves push their hardcore fans away with all their minigame casual game shovelware. I was a nintendo fan i played prime 3 SMBB galaxy 1 and 2 twilight princess mario kart sonic and the escret rings link crossbow training sonic unleashed and many more. Then they got caught up with wii music wii fit and all that stuff and thats when i got a ps3 and never looked back. Oh and i hate myself for this but i will buy a wii u for smash bros mario kart and lets hope galaxy 3
