Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft may unlock "hidden" Xbox One performance boosts in time, suggests Witcher 3 dev

So far only the PS4 as delivered on the secret saucedepartment with 3, I believe

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Around the Network

I don't understand why people in this thread are even here if they're not interested in the content of the interview...
Just to bash on the devs? To bash on people that seem genuinely excited? What's the point of that? Just leave and post on something you're actually excited for.

Y'all need to read the OP before spouting off about "secret sauce".

The title makes it sound like "secret sauce".

It would be something the developers are unlocking, not Microsoft.

It does kind of seem that way but then you read the article and realize it isn't that at all. I guess I just didn't realize there were so many people that don't read the OP...it's like 75% of them don't! o_0

C'mon, you're a mod. You should know it's more like 99%.

And this is different from every console in every gen how exactly???

For the record, any development team that is claiming to have maxed out a console's performance with launch games should never be allowed to work on games again. And, also for the record, I have not read any developer saying that, so bad OXM.

I think some people don't understand what the guy is saying.... he is not talking about secret hardware and not talking about dev teams getting used to the console...

he is talking about MS giving more access to dev over time or to code closer to the metal however you want to put it... which is completely different to getting used to the console and current dev kit and APIs and has nothing to do with hidden hardware... they could spend 20 years with the same console and know it like the back of their hand it wouldn't give them more access to the hardware if MS doesn't change anything on their tools or access rules....

and at that game like many pointed out about the hardware to say the PS4 is better.... MS is first and foremost a software company and they are god damn good at it when it comes to tools and no doubt better than Sony at that game... which could make things better for devs on the long run.... that said the hardware will stay behind the PS4... but software can add a lot too, if anything in overhead cost for the devs which can play a big role on executive decisions as business and therefor for the end result.... we have seen it with the PS3/360 last gen....
