Forums - Gaming Discussion - Now can we all say "Thank You Microsoft", "Thanks for the Competition"

ty MS for breaking $ony's arrogant pride.

Well...Guess you should say thank you Microsoft for making it really easy for Sony to win.

Back then we were all scared and confused on Blu-ray, HD-DVD,HD televisions and how much they cost.

Take my love, take my land..

honestly it would have been better if Sony released a much more powerful console and sold it for $500 or even $600 . early adopters would have bought it anyway and eventually Sony could have cut the price as production costs went down.
PS4 graphics aren't even up to par with my 2 year old 7970.

If PS4 was at $500, I am pretty sure I would be waiting for a price drop. I didn't own a PS2 until the Slim came out, I didn't own a PS3 until the slim came out. And I went on doing the line at 7:30 am on a Sunday at Best Buy to purchase a PS4.

I dont agree. I dont think Sony without microsoft would have been bad. We can also take the viewpoint that to achieve that level of competition microsoft rushed in a new gen before devlopers were ready leading to the decline in the number of publishers, developers and the japanese development.
We can also say that they used that competive effort to usher in malpractices.

So, no im not gonna thank them since im of the opinion that they brought more bad than good.

I would rather have some other competitor. Microsoft out, Valve and Steam Machines big time and directly in the console market. Man can dream...

How bout no, we don't need consoles getting any more expensive because of Valve.

Agree to disagree here then. I don't mind a more powerful, more expensive console, hell I would really like the PS4 to be 600$ and provide much more potential in software through higher performance than it has now. Plus I would gladly offset the pricey and high end Steam Machine by buying cheap games in Steam Sales.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

You may not mind, but the vast majority of consumers do mind. We saw that from the PS3 launch.

They're only the "biggest" in history due to day one sales and a lot of initial delivery.

Any of these consoles could sell over a million day one, MSony were simply the first to deliver that much.

People really can't say much until a couple months have passed and we see where it flattens out at.

Ok, Sony exclusives: Resistance fall of Men first got my attention and as I enthusiastically asked PS users how good it must be as what I saw from gametrailers and magazines, everybody said it sucks big time.
KZ is good, but rather a wannabe halo killer than a real competitor, said by Sony peepz and from Reviews.
For GT there's Forza, which took over since Forza 4.
Ok what's left? God of War never fell for it, Uncharted and Infamous.
That's why there's Xbox AND PlayStation - some prefer green, some blue.
I am an absolutely big fan of exclusive content which separates Consoles from each other.

And why exactly should I care about the vast majority? that would be good for me, that what counts for me. Again, for me Microsoft is in every meaningful way inferior to Sony in the console department and I would want a company that makes products better than Playstations, that would be simply better than just making Sony try more due to competition like MS does. And for me that company could be Valve.
