I'm guessing Mario+Sonic, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, DKCR, and Dream Team should reach a million by the end of the Christmas shopping season, though I can't see anything else hitting it. Maybe Mario Tennis and Mario Party will lifetime, but I doubt it.

Mario Tennis couldn't reach 1 million, not by a longshot. Not unless it becomes bundled with 3DS hardware or it gets a price drop to $20 or something. That game bombed really hard outside of Japan.

Mario tennis was at 1.1 million announced by nintendo and that was months ago. Its one of the most heavily undertracked games on the site.

How come we are so undertracked for games like mario and luigi and donkey kong then? The digital sales are obviously included in their higher figures but i would be surprised if the percentage was that high.

In US definitely not, They both dont make the top 20 list (i know Fire Emblem Awakening had over 100k in th US digitally and that was months ago and now  its ranked 8th. I think we missed alot of retail here, Especially Europe for both games

Just because the publisher says they sold over a million doesn't mean they're undertracked here. It's not undertracked if digital sales and unsold shipped copies account for the difference.

So you reckon there are a a combined 500k copies of mario tennis either sitting on shelves, or been downloaded? And that was six months ago sp thats assuming not one copy has been sold since. I take your point but games tend to get adjusted down a lot quicker than they get adjusted up.

If it's undertracked by 250k, that means 250k are on store shelves and sold digitally, very possible. Yet that 250k adjustment wouldn't make it a million seller.

But its not undertracked by 250k. Six months ago it was at 1.1 m and we have it at i think 730k. So using figures that are six months old that would be 370k undertracked. Sorry but i dont buy that digital sales are that high for mario tennis.

No, six months ago Nintendo had shipped 1.1 million including digital. That does NOT mean 1.1 million sold physically, so you cannot conclude how much it is undertracked by that number.

I'm sure the game sold at least 100k on the eShop globally, and there must be SOME units on shelves, which means it had sold fewer than 1 million as of six months ago despite Nintendo's 1.1 million shipped report. There could easily have been 200k copies on shelves. How many do you think it has sold in the last six months, more than a year after its release? It's not Mario Kart, its legs aren't going to be crazy good.

You guys are seriously underestimating Mario Party.

Will easily make the 1m mark. Even Mario Party Advance, the GBA game, touched that (okay, 0.98m) and personally I didn't even know that game existed until like two years ago. It won't sell less than that game for sure. This is the first game in the series on the 3DS, and every first game (except Advance obviously) has sold 2.5m and up. Even Mario Party 9, a game released when the Wii was long since considered 'dead' sold over 2.6m.

I don't see how Mario Party Island Tour will sell less than 3m lifetime, an easy 1m before New Years.

(EDIT: And also, wasn't there a the_dengle thread about this (million sellers I mean)?)

Nintendo statement said 1.1m sold, not shipped.
