Forums - Sony Discussion - Are you all aboard the GT6 hype train?

"No, it'll sell well."

Compared to other games of course but compared to other Gran Turismo games it'll be lucky to sell half what GT5 did.

Look at the difference in the search volume on google for when GT5 was coming out compared to 6.

GT5 got nearly 5x as much interest.

What microtransactions are gonna be included in GT6? Are they crazy?

Apparently they plan on putting up credit packs in 500k 1, 2.5 and 7 mil denominations.

It's probably going to be half assed to make a quick buck from clueless people. With 500k for a full engine overhaul, several 20 million credit cars, and level requirement before you can purchase cars it seems rather pointless to buy credits. Plus there are so many easy ways to make credits in GT5, you would need to be really impatient to fall for that scheme.
Still I rather have it would not be there. It feels like they're trying out the waters to see who will bite. If it's even a moderate success GT7's career mode could be overhauled in favor of micro transactions :/ I hope nobody uses them.

Yuck! These systems quite piss me off. However I can forgive them if the simulation is very realistic, I'm very hyped for most well done racing sim, and GT titles rank very high at that amongst console games, although PC exclusive (and soon also some the latest multiplat sim originally born on PC) racing and/or driving sims normally rank the highest at simulation realism. I'm also hyped about some of the best mixed arcade/sim racers, like Colin McRae, Dirt, TOCA, and obviously GT and, a little less, Forza too. OTOH I'm not hyped about totally arcade racers: I sucked at them when I was a teen, but I still loved some of them, but when I learned driving real cars, I started sucking at arcade racers even more and I stopped liking them. I can still forgive lack of realism of some of them if they are about vehicles different from real ones, but arcade driving of real vehicles gives me awkward sensations.

Pre-ordered the Anniversary edition as soon as it was announced. I might not be as active on the GT6 threads as I was on the pre-GT5 days, but i'm eager to play it as much.

Sadly never found the time to get that last 6% of the trophies (1000 cars, level 40 A-Spec, all gold A-Spec events), would love to post a 24H Nurb log like I did for Le Mans
