Internet: PSN is quicker and more reliable than LIVE... say what!!?? Now I know this is a joke thread.

serious question, how is live better than PSN. i am seriously curious as how it is better.

It isn't, saw one guy post yesterdayy,, said dedicated servers and livew was why he got an x1 which is fine, then went on too say PSn was not near as good... I had both, there was not a single difference playing on either online all last gen nor is there now, except party chat which PS4 has. It's being spreads by a certain group lol, i'll let you guess which.

good review the only edge the xbox has on the ps4 is the 100$ kinect imo and changing the colour of there menu. i dont see anything better.

people are still saying xbox one graphics are better then ps4....

and i dont like how xbox pretty much re made the 360 controller just changing the trigger and the d pad and controller turn on button and people are still calling the controller that comes with AA batteries innovation..

the xbox has a better mic but imo i dislike it even tho i used it on the 360 i hate wearing head sets in general makes my skin feel greasey which is why im one of the only people who like ps4 mics..

Here is my comparison:

Hardware:
PS4 is slimmer, sleeker, sexier, thinner, lighter, with power brick integrated
XB1 is clunky, bulky, heavy, with an external power brick

Controller:
Both controllers are great, one may be better than the other with respect to personal preference
But ps4 takes the edge due to integrated rechargeable battery, integrated speaker & motion, and touchpad as well as the share button

Games
XB1 has a better launch line up, but the upcoming games and history definitely gives the edge to PS4. For now, it's a slight edge but given that it's almost certain that PS4 will be a much better hit than PS3, just wait this gap to increase a lot more in PS4's direction.

Graphics performance
PS4 is theoretically at least 40% faster though this can be as much as 2x. The performance gap in reality may change from zero in some third party games to as much as 2.25x; either way PS4 is well ahead.

General performance
So far, PS4 is far better; much faster installation times, faster Browser performance, faster UI, instant sharing, longer video recordings etc. There is not one area where PS4 doesn't exhibit higher performance.

Media Capabilities & Multi-tasking
Xbox is potentially better, but the execution is very problematic now. PS4 does everything promised and very fast at it, such as limited multi-tasking, smooth and fast game installs, responsive UI etc... XB1 promises a lot more, but the execution and reliability are poor. Multi-tasking is superior but having more than 2 or 3 apps open is barely a niche. Snap mode sounds promising but execution is horrible. Kinect might be appealing but all it is good for so far is the voice commands, which doesn't really need anything but speaker which PS4 has integrated in its controller! Plus most of this functionality can be enabled by PSeye camera and/or some software updates. In short PS4 does less, but does it much better than XB1.

This is correct if you are subscribed to online services. Otherwise, PS4 is outright better, while XB1 just cripples pretty much everything but single player gaming.

Internet capabilities
PSN is cheaper than XBL, has more bonus materials, and so far proved to be faster and more reliable. We'll see how it will turn out.

Pricing
PS4 is better, period.

In short, my long run prediction:
PS4 will give a better hardware with better gaming and general performance and a more diverse, more balanced and much larger gaming library at a lower cost than XB1. The execution will be better although it will be a less capable machine than XB1, where it matters much less. It will do slightly less, but it will do it all much better.

Well, the title is accurate, as noone would confuse this would an objective comparison.

Far too early to tell. Remember how the 360 caned the PS3 in the early years only for it to make a stunning comeback. MS could iron out the kinks and release some better development tools. The cynic in me says game over as far as games go in Sonys favour not least because it has better tech but let's not forget the PS2 was incredibly successful and yet was most likely probably the weakest of the consoles.

Well some of your points are credible but you also make some biased arguments like "PSN has proved to be faster and reliable". What proof do you have of this?

I have had,

Killzone MP
music unlimited
video unlimited
netflix
party chat
web broswer

All running at the same time. The last two apps are a double tap away, and the rest can be quickly activated though voice or physical input.

As for Networks, they are the same. PSN and XBL have been equal at the basic game level for a long time. Now that PS4 has party chat there is no difference.

and your points? I may be subjective but I am honest, and every single point I raised is valid and correct, if understood clearly of course. Check out my following posts for better clarity.

That's fair, but a comeback for XB1 doesn't seem very likely because

- They have similar hardware, PS4 is just better (dedicated arm processor, extra dedicated 256 MB RAM, slimmer and less ambitious unified OS, no virtual machines whatsoever. In addition, bluray is Sony's Forte).

- Last gen, two machines were vastly different. PS3 had only 1 generally programmable core (SPEs were pretty useless for non-gaming). X360 had 3 of those cores in addition to more flexible unified memory, so it was basically always superior in non-gaming activities.

Circumstances are very different this time around

Do you have both consoles? I only have a PS4 but do admit that the X1 lineup is much better. A lot of the points you made just look regurgitated

Ok, you can ignore that. I was obviously not very clear. I was referring to "this very short time frame with PS4 and XB1 only". This is why I said things may change and we'll know later. There are various websites reporting the browser benchmarks, download times etc all in favor of PS4. But again I reach to judgement in this regard, too early to call, although freebie stuff with PSN as well as lower price tag still (subjectively) gives the edge to PSN for me.
