Forums - Gaming Discussion - My subjective XB1 - PS4 comparison

There is no such thing as subjective on this topic for any gamer that isn't just starting out. Before really looking at everything the console you want to win will already be in your mind.

Personally, being subjective is something I am always striving for but I haven't spent enough time in the world of sony to really weigh te benifits.

But I can say putting PSN over xbox live is very discrediting. I had a ps3 in my house long enough to know, downloads, updates playing online all sucked ass next to xbox live. don't know about how far they have come but I really doubt it's even on the same level at this point.

I... don't think subjective means what you think it means...

I can do one subjective comparision too.

PS4 VS Wii U

The Wii U, looks really cool. It comes in white and dark colors. I have the white one. The PS4 looks ugly.

The performance of the Wii U is really cool. I heard it can run games at 1080p and 60fps.

The internet services are better on PS4.

The Wii U is cheaper than the PS4 and Xbox One.

All around the Wii U seems to be a good console.

You're being really funny here, but for the sake of argument, let me take it seriously, and have a rational reply...

1) Wii U looks good -> I agree

PS4 looks ugly --> I certainly disagree and the vast majority of people who are not jealous fans of another system would aslo disagree

conclusion : both systems look good (though I prefer PS4, I always liked Nintendo's compact & efficient designs)

2) Wii U's performance is slightly above PS3, it's not even close between wiiU and PS4. but this is less of an issue for the Nintendo Fans because those exclusives are not available anywhere else, so if you like Nintendo exclusives, WiiU is probably powerful enough. But most third party games will either not be on WiiU or will be VERY SUBPAR.

3) Internet services of WiiU may be better than PS3, I don't know, they are proved to be very problematic. At least for now, PS4 services seem to be really fast an problem-free. It's a paid service, so Nintendo has the edge here, but with all the extras, I believe PS4 service is worth it. Basically very different beasts to be compared.

4) Yes WiiU is cheaper by $50-$100, but let's see how much more this extra bucks buy you : much MUCH much faster Console (basically a generational leap), better implementation game streaming via PSVita (which was the main premise of WiiU), a much MUCH much larger third party support, bluray playback support etc... No question about it, PS4 is far better value.

Yes WiiU is a good console, and it has every reason to exist, at least for the sheer reason of Nintendo exclusives and some interesting ideas. I believe it should be cheaper around $249 for the deluxe model. My question is why does XB1 even exist? What would we lose other than the first party titles, which could easily be ported over to the PS4, and economic competition?

yeah, he seems to be completely off-base in what he thinks words mean.  Plus...PSN 'noticeably' worse than XBL?  Naw.  Not at all.   Downloads were slower, sure, but not by enough to really have an issue with it.   Both were equally stable when playing online, I found.

And I don't know why people think his assessment is unfair.  yeah, it's subjective, but every single thing the OP mentioned is completely valid, and relatively free of bias.  He has preferences, sure, but that doesn't mean bias.

Halo 4 wasn't a bungie game and it was great. Destiny doesn't change Halo 5 being a potentially great game either.

Your arguments against Kinect aren't valid.
1) Most games probably won't use PS4's motion features either. But since Kinect comes with the console, there is more potential for developers to use it.
2) You feel Kinect isn't liked by hardcore gamers, but you didn't mention hardcore gamers while boasting about the PS4's motion features.
3) Voice control is part of the Kinect. Kinect encourages developers to use voice control features.
4) PSeye not being bundled means developers are less likely to use it.
5) Motion gaming on PS4 may not neccessarily be cheaper, especially if multiple people want to play. I believe the new Kinect tracks 4 people at once.

1) Halo 4 was a good game, again I favored X360 this gen, but honesly PS3 has far better games than Halo, with the only caveat being the DS3. Halo's glorious days are over. It had its glory because of the American Online Community, which predominantly backed the X360 due to several reasons. The wind is waving in the opposite direction now, this is why nobody (even MS) is talking about Halo anymore. Maybe Titanfall, not not Halo.

2) Kinect was popular, mainly due to the Wii. It was a fad, which we understand from the lack of Kinect games. That fad is over. This is why there is hardly any third party using it. PS motion control is not as good as Kinect, but it really isn't trying to be. If Kinect is good for you (like many other potential customers), go ahead, buy XB1, I respect that, but you will be a niche very soon. You will be happy for 1 or 2 years, but then it will wear out. If you think that's worth the investment, good for you.

3) Voice control is mainly a software feature, and if implemented correctly and adequately, it can be great. Microsoft has a lot of problems with it. It's a neat feature but not a game changer for the crowd. A $100 price decrease would convince  A LOT MORE people to choose XB1, rather than a gimmicky voice control. Also PS4 has voice controls, but not just to that extent because Sony put their efforts and energy designing a GAMES console. Gıven eneough demand, they will surely add those features, with an easy software update.

4) Kinect being bundled also doesn't mean developers will use it. You will be amazed by how rarely it will get used! And Sony couldn't care less.

5) PSeye is cheaper than Kinect, but the point here is that you don't have to buy it. To many people Kinect is useless. Most European and Asian Houses don't even have the SPACE to make it work properly in their living rooms. Microsoft's mindset is TOO USA CENTRIC. They can never be a global player. The most important elements of a game console in US are "Price" and "Network Effects". Lower price triggers network effects as well. So MS will lose in USA as well, forget the rest of the world.

People still acting like PS4 doesn't do media..cannot take anyone serious who says that nonsense. Once Mp3 and dlna get added there will be barely any difference.

are people really objecting to a (subjective) opinion?
