You can play Xenogears on Vita, digital version of course. I know this for a fact as it is on mine now :)

Can't find it on PSN. Guess it's yet another case of EU getting screwed over

I'm not sure about now but it was one of the titles that I had to download via PC or PS3, then transfer it to Vita. I would have hoped by now Sony had rectified that little debacle. Did it ever release on PSN in EU? I'm in US

I'm searching it on a PC and it's not there. Such a pity :( We don't get so many jRPGs that you get.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Xenogears has the best story of all games to date. Pure brilliance.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

My vote probably goes to Final Fantasy Tactics. I loved the political intrigue, social inequality, and general way the game presented the lore of Ivalice. Of course, I did have to get past some painful translations to enjoy the story.

You're 5 years older then me, so you may have gotten into JRPG's at the same time I have. I for the most part beat a good amount of PS2/Gamecube JRPG's, with few exceptions. I didn't get into JRPG's until I was a teenager, and when I did I started with SNES/GBA. As a result I've beaten most of the better 16-bit JRPG's. Now it's time to move onto 32 bit

I agree with you about Square Enix, GBA and PSP are great systems, but when you look at their libraries, half of the games are SNES/PS1 remakes. SNES/PS1 was the era of quality Japanese games. When you look at Final Fantasy, and the JRPG's SE makes now....it is sad. I mean 3 of the best console JRPG's from the 7th gen aren't even Square Enix (XenoBlade, Lost Odyssey, Valkyria Chronicles). I would even put Namco above Square Enix since the Tales of franchise has been really enjoyable last gen.

Also P.S. with all the games we've mentioned between us, I know I'll love them all. I've either beaten games in those franchises, or played a solid couple hours into each game to know I'll love them. Damn.....I'm not going PS4 any time soon.

I totally agree with you on the SNES/PS1 being the era of quality Japanese games. It was precisely in the PS2/GC/Xbox era when Western games started taking a big piece of the pie, something that got way bigger last gen.

My library of games in the 5th gen was 90% Japanese games.Last gen it was almost the complete opposite, if it weren´t for Nintendo games.

It seems like the start of 'the HD era' was like twisting a knife in the back of Japanese developers.

It's their own fault, the people who run Square Enix now don't give any of the new guys a chance to develop games. Thus all the high budget games just end up being pretty looking, but bad games. I mean FFXIII has auto battle......wth?

I'm sure Japanese games will continue to exist in the future. They just probably won't be developed by Square Enix that much anymore. I mean FFXIII was still the best selling JRPG last gen, but look who the runners up are now. Dark Souls, Valkyrie Profile, Lost Odyssey, XenoBlade....they only sell 1-2 million units each, but still. Just like WRPGs restructured since the 90's, I expect the same to happen to JRPG's.

Anyway good talk.

Final Fantasy XV will possibly have the best story. FF XV looks visually impressive and the game play action footage looks a lot more interesting than FF XIII.

1. No. It's the ending where you choose to save her. It's probably the only proper final, true ending, for that matter.
2. Yeah, that's very similar. Although I believe Nier has the advantage, character-wise.

1. I still saw that coming too lol
2. I disagree, but I do admit Emil is a damn interesting character. I wish more levels in the game brought up details about his back story, I read all of his files in the game, he could be a game on his own. :-O

Either you're lying, you don't know the implications of the ending, or you spoiled it for yourself.

You seriously anticipated the game nuking your save file and making it impossible to choose the same name for your character for every following playthrough?

When you got to the end of Playthrough 3, and you pick Kaine's death ending, it's pretty obvious that the other choice leads to your death.

As for her having the meltdown that causes her to cease existing, after she had the meltdown the first time in the game, I knew at some point she would have it again. So I kinda knew Kaine was going to have an ending where she became one of those things. I didn't know it would lead to her no longer existing, nor did I know this would be a part of the ending, but I expected her to die. So yes, I expected all the endings.

The ending for Playthrough 2 was only an extended cut of ending A, so......overall I wasn't really impressed with the endings to the game.

BTW, I googled the ending just to refresh my memory, and....I didn't know Nier takes place after the true ending to Drakengard (Ending E). Apparently Nier takes place after ending E in Drakengard, and Drakengard 2 takes place after ending A. Kinda makes me appreciate how convoluted Drakengard was.

Are you basing how good an unreleased games story will be based off the graphics? FFXIII isn't known as one of the better FF plots, but you're ignoring that because it's pretty?

I'm not expecting much from FF XV, it looks over the top silly like FFVII: Advent Children, and that wasn't a good movie IMO.

missing the point

I'm not saying the ending wasn't predictable. I'm saying that how it was implemented was damn cool and memorable.

The Xenogears love is making me warm and fuzzy.

God I miss those days when consoles weren't powerful enough to do first person shooters.
