Forums - Gaming Discussion - For you who think next gen graphics suck...

Well they do right now. But remember this

Call of duty 2 on Xbox 360

Call of duty: Ghosts on Xbox 360

I chose these two games because they perform similarly.

With the PS4 and Xbox One already looking slightly better than the current gen games imagine how much better they will look in a year or two. Ghosts will look like Call of Duty 2 looks to us today.

Apparently not enough. I still see comments about marginal improvement over last gen, as if launch games are a true test of the hardware.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

Gears of War for Xbox 360 (2006):

Deadly Premonition for Xbox 360 (2010):

I choose these two games because they perform similar: they both have tank controls.

Next gen graphics sucks. They go backwards!

Gears of War 1 actually looks really great till this day, only because it's dark and gritty

Deadly Premonition is also dark and gritty, so you're agreeing with me.

Never played it. doesnt look that great from the pic but it could look better in motion.

... This thread makes me facepalm... You wanna compare the differences between the SNES and the N64? or to the Gamecube? Those are HUGE differences. The difference you're showing me is "the rubble is a little more detailed and the guns are a little shinier."

I'm more concerned with the half a dozen game developers who went out of business just trying to make games for the PS3... If it's not a super hit, they were lucky to break even on that system. Now its even more extreme? Are you shitting me!!! For what?

I actually like the graphics on old games. Some things look better with low resolution graphics and are easier to play because of it. Some indie developers have caught onto this and are making their games in low definition 2D now because they figured it out.

You know that to match up to these standards most developers are cutting down on the feature lists and game lengths because of this? They think "Hey doesn't matter if the game is as shallow as Pong, just as long as its in WICKED HD 1080P."

Bringing everything into perfect realism isn't the answer. Some games it works on, most games should stay the hell away from it.

Next gen graphics don't suck. :)

Taking a second look, most PS3 developers agree with me. Many of your favorite developers are now making iPhone games, people like David Jaffe from the God of War series and Ninja Theory for starters.

To think I hear people claim that developers would rather work on these monstrous games. All an HD game means to a developer is more work and less creativity. That's why the indie market is exploding right now. The happy developers are the ones who are working on Minecraft and Plants vs Zombies.

Exactly what part of making the next rendition of Call of Duty supposed to be a creative outlet. All they do is remake the same guns and the same models, and the same levels, all with a little higher definition.
