I hear you man, garbage like this is overflowing all over the industry. At least Nintendo and Sony haven't gone down this road that far. Though paid psn is bullshit, and gt6 has me worried.

Uncharted 3 already has microtransactions. but it was for decorative stuff like hates and what not. i dont mind them as long as they dont interfere with the game and gameplay. skins of guns or characters can be unlocked from challanges and mc? OK fne by me, as long as they intentionally make it really hard to unlock that skin without paying. however, it seems that forza 5 is locking cars behind MC that can also be unlocked with in game tokens that will take forever to unlock and will get to a point were its just feels like a chore to get these tokens in game. if that is the case then that is really fucked up. plus these microtransactions stoped being micro when they cost as much as the game its self

Well I didn't buy Dead Space 3 till it was $1 in the EA humble bundle because they included microtransactions in the game, so I did my part. I even emailed them to tell them I would not pay full price for a game for the privilege of allowing them to try and tempt me to spend more money inside my own damn game. Any game with microtransactions is a budget title to me.

Edit: Just to make it clear I'm not talking about DLC in general but when games offer me things to 'aid my progress' in the actual game itself for real money. Seriously, what an immersion breaker at the very least.

This is why i dont support Microsoft anymore. What i originally saw as a healthy alternative to further the scope of quality gaming, quickly turned into a nightmare of nickle and dime i wont be supporting anymore.
I can only hope that Sony and Nintendo dont consider going down that path. When you pay full price for a game and you dont get a full game, theres something seriously wrong. Dont get me wrong, im ok with alternative cosmetic stuff and DLC developed after launch to further support the gamers and the developers, but when a portion of the game that should be in the disc is blocked, then were going down a very dangerous path.

I already don't like how Sony followed MS with the paywall but it was expected and I will need to accept but I think it is a bad move from Sony... I prefer a free online approach... now I'm paying I will require a better PSN.

About the microtransactions... I hate this trend... GT6 will use it for easy money and I hate that... at least you can play the full game without microtransactions like in Forza 4... so the bad is not a huge bad.

Now what MS is trying with the launch lineup for Xbone are atrocities... terrible... bad in the bad way... I don't want Sony to follow that... this is a hell of shit... I don't what MS changing the industry for this bullshit terms.

I want my gamer life back

Say one change that MS brought to the industry that wasn't accompanied by a big bill...

I hope that games I pay to have can be fully played without further real money (and don't make the in game currency so obnoxious that grinding isn't a good option).. about MP I don't care about then and like PS+ for the free games, but to MP I don't condone, nor accept, but understand.

Well it begun with Dead space 3, people must have used the micro transactions so that we're now seeing them everywhere.

I just hope GT6 career mode hasn't been affected by the inclusion of micro transactions. Why bother anyway, you can always play arcade mode if you can't stand the grind. We'll see soon enough. I was never starved for credits in GT5, pretty much maxed out most of the time and buying all the multi million dollar cars not to waste credits.

I think EA really started it with their passes to let you unlock courses in Tiger Woods without playing through the game (or something like that). But it's certainly been coming for a long time. I was just flicking through the PSN on my Vita and noticed that MLB 13 the Show has microtransactions to give your franchise a boost to its budget or to give you road to the show training points and a heal rtts player thing. I have no idea how these are really integrated in the game since I am so awful at the game I don't play it properly...

I thought GT 5 was something of a grind fest already, but I didn't really have much idea what was going on in that game

Yes you could also already buy car unlock packs for NFS titles before Dead space 3. Micro transactions are one evolutionary step further, no you pay for parts to pay for the cars.

GT5 has a pretty long career mode and if you want all 1000 cars, then sure you'll be playing quite a while. However all the extra events and especially the seasonal events pay out huge sums for 10 minutes of racing or less. Since the 200% bonus for logging in 5 days in a row it's hard to get rid of the credits. So yes, I really hope PD doesn't feel tempted to make credits harder to come by and still give you cars for winning races. In GT5 $500,000 for a full engine overhaul, pocket change.

Which does make me worried when they advertise with this

Will it be harder to earn a 1,000,000 the normal way, or are they simply targeting the truly impatient. Plus most cars are locked by level, so you wouldn't be able to buy them anyway without levelling up first... And what about the upgrade costs, car duping, gifting, sharing. Microtransactions only leave a bitter after taste when you've already spend $60.

I love how this article is blaming MS with the direction gaming is heading when in fact this trend started with PC games like MMOs and then the popular flash games found in mobile games. MS just saw an opportunity to cash in, but they're not the ones to blame. Rather, the people that decided to start spending their money on all the PC games on this microtransactions.

there is a screen shot ingame with it costing 99$ for 8k tokens, and some of the cars cost 10k tokens..
