Forums - Sony Discussion - First image of PS4 & PS Vita Ultimate Edition Bundle - UPDATE Price £599.96

As an adult man who owns his own car, I see absolutely 0 use for any handheld console. Who are they adverting this thing to? The 3DS is already targeted at children, so who is going to buy the vita? HS/college Students I guess, but many students here in the US also own cars, few commute so to me the vita is absolutely pointless.

Because the PS4 is a great system with tonnes of potential.  The Vita is a great way to take gaming on the go and its addition makes the PS4 act like a WiiU but with superior specs and the ability to continue playing games at work, school, or everywhere else.

All at the same price as the Xbox One.

Basically, the PS4, with a Vita and a camera, costs ~600 after tax.  To get equal functionality out of competing products (buying the One and WiiU) it'll cost you 800 PLUS taxes.

Keep in mind I have a WiiU and love it, and feel at this point it is the best of the next gen consoles, but Sony really has hit all the right buttons with this bundle, and allowing the options to remain open, giving you the choice between "Awesome core system" for 400 bucks, and letting you chose which added features you want, be it the camera or the Vita.  But seriously, for people who don't own a Vita, this 500 dollar Bundle is outstanding.

My Console Library:

PS5, Switch, XSX

PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360

3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android

Why shouldn't you buy this?

Also, didn't I just kill you in Uncharted GA last night?   :)

Geeez... that bundle will cost a little fortune.

Ehhhh... I have mixed feelings about this.

Remember how the 20GB PS3 (if anyone here even remembers the 20GB PS3, ironically, lol) ended up fading into obscurity and the 60GB PS3 took all the limelight? Which resulted in more cons than pros for Sony.

I feel like the standalone PS4 might suffer the same fate and this "ultimate bundle" will be lauded and hammed up for it's pricepoint.

On the flipside, it's not like MS are offering an SKU $200 cheaper this time around. So who knows... I just would've thought Sony want to stay well away from this territory at all costs after what happened to the PS3 in it's first year.

Price it at $500 and the Vita is saved.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Fantastic

Well...fudge. Amazing bundle and one I'd definitely get if I had not got a PS4 at launch.

That has to be the worst analogy I have ever seen. Comparing a 20GB gimped version of PS3 with a 500GB PS4 that has all the features regardless if it’s bundled with a Vita or not. All it will do is provide the consumer with options of either console gaming by itself or coupled with handheld gaming/remote play at an extra cost. You pick one gimped sku to support your argument and disregard all the sku’s that have been supported this gen from both MS and Sony. Clearly, there is a business model that works for tiered bundle sku`s without gimping the feature set. That’s why the 20GB PS3 fell into obscurity, it didn’t even have wi fi.
