Mario 3D Land is the comparison, and Mario 3D Land was a stronger sustainer. Not properly evergreen, but stronger.

According to almost half of the SMB3/SMW install base, they didn't think it was. Just sayin.

Anyway, I was skeptical at 3D Land's launch given 3D Mario's generally lesser impact, but I honestly do think Nintendo a nailed a new win/win formula for 2D and 3D enthusiasts alike as long as it doesn't go the way of NSMB.

Certainly wont be an overnight turnaround, but I do believe it's the first step of the healing process, a very confident one at that.

3D World looks terrific and all, but Mario 64 it ain't. Mario 64 might be the greatest game ever made and was arguably the first masterpiece 3D gaming title. 


Alright... look at Super Mario 3D land.

To cut this short. Of course its a system seller. Especially when it scores in 9.5 range. Every game on that range is gonna be a system seller.

3D Land had a lot of support from MonHun (in Japan); MK7 & price cut (worldwide), though.

3D World is basically going solo in all 3 regions, especially with Sonic underwhelming.  It's certainly going to be an uphill struggle.

Well, during the Wii days, 2D Mario was supposedly helping the Wii a whole lot, and the sales speak for themselves. The Wii U launched with a 2D Mario and that didn't help much, so the tables have turned this gen and a lot of people are claiming that a 3D Mario is the system seller.
I think what I'm saying is; it damn well better be!

3D world will move units but not as much as is needed. however next christmas is they make ads saying that smash, mario and mariokart are out then more systems will be moved. I see next christmas being a lor better for the Wii U than this one.
