Forums - Gaming Discussion - Ninja Theory to quit console development and shift to mobile, report claims

And nothing of value was lost.

Sorry, but I hated their games, all style, no substance. let them go to mobile, that's where they belong.

My Console Library:

PS5, Switch, XSX

PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360

3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android

After that horrible step back called DmC which by the way ends with a NT employee giving the finger to the audience I frankly don't care about them.

Meh... dont care.

I think they just didnt have any projects green lighted by publishers. So im sure this is something they are beeing forced to do and not what they chose to do.

I liked Enslaved and i thought DMC was ok, aside from the way they handled it. Heavenly sword passed me by. So, they arent bad, but they arent especially good either. I would rather see them do more new stuff or more enslaved, if that doesnt work, wich it looks like it didnt, then i dont care what they decide to do if they go mobile.

Why don't they simply make AAA-indie games for consoles? Make them digital, instead of abandoning the console market all together. Just shift focus a bit. Being a indie dev grants you freedom AND you can even set your own prices on Steam and the eShop. THAT'S where you need to go.

i was going to suggest that too.  i mean, they can do mobile as well but a psn/xbl/wiiware/steam release would be good for them too.

Hells yeah it would! Haven't devs come out and said that they actually make more money on Wii's downloadable service rather than on iOS? I know ONE inde dev said that anyways. And people are really used to free games on smartphones now, so yeah... not such a smart move abandoning consoles all together ^^

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

I really hope this isn't true. I still have a little hope that there will be a Heavenly Sword 2. Why doesn't Sony just buy Ninja Theory?

I don't care what anyone says, I loved DmC. If fanboys had shut up about Dante's hair for five seconds and actually played the game then they would have realized how awesome it was.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Hope you guys are happy. Everything Ninja Theory made was great and yet nobody wanted to give them a shot. They were one of the few companies trying to keep things fresh and unique.  Nintendo should buy them.  They make beautiful games and they have a track record of quality, if not sales.

Like the Platinum games of the West!

I picked up Enslaved for the PS3 for 20 bucks on an Amazon lightning deal, and it was pretty decent, but never played any of their other games.  They make any non-hack n' slah titles?

And they think that's going to be easy. I don't think they release just how few make a decent profit off of the mobile market, tiny profit margins, weighting systems, steep royalty costs, compatibility issues etc.
Some make it huge, most don't make it, just like in any other business.

That said, I would be lying if I said I'd miss Ninja Theory.

if i understand the number right, IOs is reeeally good for a select ~1% of games.  the other 99% or whatever are completely ignored.   to be honest,. i fault apple on that because if it isn't on the top 10 most popular list it is really hard to navigate their store.

i think patcher commented on the numbers a month or two ago.  if you have popular app that can do 10 of millions of downloads the free to play model is more profitable (plants vs. zombies, angry birds) but if you can grab that much attention the pay to play model is more successful.

If its true then they might be the first "victim" of next gen gaming.

Since they have yet to make a game for 8th gen consoles, I'd be inclined to stack them on the 7th gen pile. Not that I expect the pattern to shift at all with 8th gen.

Aren't you the same guy who just ranted about Heavenly Sword in the Ryse thread?

That was attaboy.

Oh, so I'm not the only one who sees Ryse as Heavenly Sword Season 2. Anybody remember that video Twesterm made of starting a huge battle in Heavenly Sword, then going up to get a drink from the kitchen while mashing a single button?
