Forums - Gaming Discussion - Some Wii Third Parties have some balls...

This version of spider man is NOT dedicated to the Wii. No way. It has the same rendering engine as the PS3 version. I can tell that by looking at it. If you pay attention, almost all engines, have a distinct... look.

Any games made off the Doom3 engine have great lighting, and look plasticy. Anything made off HL2, looks kinda flat. The new engines are starting to look better, however as a rule of thumb, each engine has a disticnt look, and I beleive that comes from the render pattern. The Wii has the same render pattern, and it is actually running VERY similar shaders. Because of that I am 90% positive the graphics engine is the same as the PS3.

Looks like they made the game for the DS then ported it to all the others. I look forward to more reviews being averaged with this...pretty sad example of multi-platform so far.

IT's sad when the DS version looks better than the Wii version...

I think the main problem was time constraints... I really think movie-tie in games should just be made for the wii, 360, and PS3... it's too overwhelming for a dev. to have to make a game for 7 different platforms all in the course of a year and a half... Movie tie-in games might be decent if dev's only had to work with 3 systems at a time... and honestly, how many people are gonna buy a movie tie-in for the DS or the PC or the PSP anyway? not many, I'd assume.

lets call it what it is. the textures don't look that great at all, even on the PS3

It's especially sad, when it shows clearly that you don't know what you're talking about at all, and that you are the worst technical source ever. Because some posts earlier, you said you know what happened, and that they applied low settings on a next gen graphics engine on the Wii. Of course, that doesn't mean anything, as a "next gen" engine is marketing speak at best. You even said you could recognise engines by look, and talked about shaders. I knew already you were clueless, but you just prove it a lot more every time.

The fact is that this game sucks and suffers the same problems on every console. Besides, let me tell you that a graphics engine doesn't work like you think it is, by just lowering settings on a less powerful hardware. That would be a beyond stupid engine not worth buying. I hope you don't really believe you understand anything about graphic engines or hardware power, but I have heavy doubts.

If I have an advice to you, when you'll start learning about programming and graphics engine, don't start with shaders. And BTW, shaders have nothing to do with clipping and size of the drawing area, or textures disappearing.

All the tricks are known for things like that not to happen, and they didn't use any. Those tricks were used on all the last gen consoles and before them. This was just rushed, that's all.

So come on, after all that's been said, whos going to buy this and on what platform? Who's brave enough to stand up so everyone can point their fingers and laugh!

I might play it if someone else rents it for me. But I sure as hell aint gonna endorse that. If someone buys it for me. It's going back to the store, and I'm getting AC4, or that new RPG.
