Just bouht a 2ds with pokemon y but i keep on getting the message that the gamecard can't be read. Does it have to do with region.

Should i make sure that the system is up to date by possible connecting it to the internet? any suggestions? 

well the 3DSs are region locked so check what region your game and system are and if they match up

That might be the problem i shall see. 

Check if a DS or another 3DS game works on it..

It was the region lock issue, i exchanged it and got a game that matches my region. Thanks for the suggestion ^^
