Well Sony does have a history of dumping things when things get tough.

 

I highly doubt that they've "lost" this gen as it seems like they are selling their system pretty well now and have been outselling the 360 on a weekly basis worldwide. I'd be more worried that Microsofts 3rd parties may choose to go Wii and PS3 exclusive over time, what will that mean for Microsoft if they are relegated to 3rd place?

By the logic shown in the original post, it would be Microsoft that is out and never to return.

At least post about data that can be discussed, not data that is simply wrong.  It is not that hard to do.

Go to the top of the page and click home. Then scroll to where it has the weekly totals for all of the regions and you will find that the PS3 does infact outsell the 360 at the rate which you suggested it has to. (or at least it has been for a few weeks now)

Considering that the ps3 probably won the format war for Sony I would say it guarantees they will stay in the console gaming business. When the ps3 dips below $300 US then people will really start buying it on mass as both a bluray player and gaming console.

Give sony some time to flourish...

HOnestly I think that sony's doing pretty good and will do better in the future...

sony is a rich company so even if the ps3 happens to be a failure they will stil go along w. the ps4
they sell well in tvs

It's not going to happen but I wouldn't miss them if it did.
There is almost nothing on Sony's consoles that you can't get on the Wii or Xbox360.
As long as either a Sony or Microsoft console is still around I'm not sure the gaming world is losing much.
If Nintendo dropped out there would however be a chasm created.
