I think part of the problem is that the 360 and PS3 are just different beasts, both are powerful but are extremely different.  So any game made specifically for one console in mind and plays to all it's strengths will likely have problems on the other.  I'm talking about games like Gears of War, Lair, and apparently this game as well.  The developers of Lair have already said it wouldn't be possible on the 360 and I believe them because it makes heavy use of the cell processor.

According to a Finnish gamer on the PS3Forums, he claims, "Well that's pretty faulty translation. The dev never says, that the game wouldn't be possible on the ps3. He only states that IF they would have gone multiplatform, they would have to change the lightning effects radically because of the differences of coding for each consoles. He actually says nothing bad about the PS3."

FIXED

x360 is sure powerful but nowhere near ps3.

gears of war used Unreal 3.0 which made use of post data streaming-a technology which would be used in all future games of ps3.

Maybe the "translation" is something the editors worked on, to try and sell more magazines... ;) The only thing that comes to my mind, is the development process (as a whole). It could be that a 360 development could be very easily streamlined on a PC, lots of lovely tools, great build process, and the ability to develop on PC (rather than the actual hardware). Xbox Live may be a sticking point too - it would be possible to have a "online heavy" game, that requires many features in Live (and maybe some of the new, unannounced features) that are just not available on the PS network (for years at least).

The PS can handle some good AI.... but not as well as the 360. The PS3 would require some devs to think outside the box. Apparently the branch hint instructions only goes so far.

Didn't the early scans of Red Steel kinda look very similar to these scans?

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

About the AI debate, it's common knowledge that the Cell processor can handle things like AI, physics, etc better than the 360s CPU can. The Cell is a number-crunching beast, it's just much harder to program for, and therein lies the problem with developers like Ubisoft.

And to that guy who said the PS3 has RAM issues, technically, the PS3 has access to the same amount of RAM as the 360 does.

FACTOR 5 is using Cell extensively in graphical tasks as well. You could read their latest interview.

Plus they are also saying that with time more graphics related performance would be achieved from Cell.

Well, Your problem is AIs are for a good part not number crunching parts of the code but more or less state machine dependend and that's something SPEs don't like! And even the game physics are less number crunching based. What you consider common knowledge is not something a developer would say.

There is no easy comparison, because it is usefull to work differently on the different plattforms. Which solution is better remains to be seen. The systems need different approaches.

what?

AI is not as taxing as TRE/FFT.

as for physics havent you even heard from AGEIA that SPUs could be tweaked do the same work as the PHYSX cards released by them.

not only that HAVOK 4.5 is ONLY FULL COMPATIBLE with Cell. 360 can use only some of its features due to technical as well as architectural differences.

Rfom sets the bar in next gen physics.

as for Cell's benchmarks in AI related stuffs just google and you can see them.

I have one on my PS3 right now, and I promise unless it is a 200$ keyboard, the one I have on it now, is MUCH nicer than any keyboard made for the PS3

Seriously tho, do you think people here love to constantly hear about how much random shit you own cost? Maybe it gives you a little boost of self esteem...
