Forums - Gaming Discussion - Remember the Wonky Prices of Old Gens?

$70 Games

Odd $42.99-52.99 games prices I never understood.

$15-$20 Controllers

Also Nostalgia overload.

I remember, when I was a kid my parents never bought me any of the expensive games I wanted and now I have to try and track them down...

My family bought very few games back in the days. The oldest games I have (not counting VC) are PS1 games, probably because of the prices.

And let's not forget that 70$ back in the day ain't the same as 70$ now.

I'd never in my life pay anything over 15 bucks for a 16bit game. People in the 90's must have been desperate

you could buy games back then O_O
Blockbuster was my best friend as a kid

Pretty much this.  Unless it was AAA game, I rented the shit outta games back then.

Tho for me it was Video Joe (won my Genesis there)

Same here. I think I had maybe 4-5 games total for my genesis. Everything else I played was either from Blockbuster, or borrowed from friends and family.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

I had no idea what game prices were back in the day. I just had a big box full of cartridges...all I needed

Some of the 16 bit games are worth 60$ today.

In contrast to the majority of the so called AAA games.
