Forums - Gaming Discussion - My brand new PS4 just died....Final Update - 100% Dead and unresponsive. Pic in OP

Sorry to hear it bro! Mine has been working great! My only slight complaint for the ps4 would be for the battery life of the ds4. Seems to be about a third if what the ds3 is...

AceRock owns one PS3, one PS Vita, and one PS4.

It is always something with consoles, RROD/YLOD/WiiU and now this :s;. It would not bother me that much because all consoles die, at the end of the PS one era I was one of those guys who put it upside down so it would read discs, my PS2 was not reading some of my older games and when I tried to repair it, it only played my older games X_X. Sad thing is that all this failures are coming so early;

You think people forgot about the PSN hacking?

Obviously. Otherwise people wouldn't still be handing over credit card information to pay for PSN+ just to play games online.

I removed my credit card info from PSN  and just use PSN cards that I buy from the store.  I'm able to buy them at 15% off, so it saves me money anyway.  I tend to not keep credit cards on file with anyone.

Stop hating and start playing.

sorry to hear that.

I won't be getting mine until March. I'm hoping those that are having difficulties and need replacements/refurbishments don't have the luck I did with ps3 this generation (had to send it in 3 times

Mark my words, if this thing is as spread as it seems, Sony Playstation will not survive, they cannot take a blow like that, even Andrew White said, "if the PS4 fails, it is over, we need to make this one right".

Losing 1 or 2 million launch consoles will destroy Sony

Loosing 1 million launch cosoles would make it a 100% failure rate. The amount of DOAs PS4 arent that much, perspective ppl thats important.  1 million consoles sold if the failure rate is 5% wich is well withim the aceptable for eletronics release were talking about 50k broken PS4s, youre gona be hearing alot of reports about it, but can anyone say for a fact they heard more than even 1k  reports of dead PS4s. Bens PS4 was obviously broken out of the box he just got lucky it worked for a bit (or unlucky since he got into KZ and now cant finish it, wouldve been better if it had never worked I guess).

And the whole "the failure rate keeps rising" thing is obvious, thats how failure rates work, they never go down since consoles that broke dont become unbroken you can only add more broken ones to the count.

And now you know better than to buy systems at launch.

Those of us that didnt thank you for beta testing it for us. ^^

Why are people so afraid of buying something at launch? Even if things break, you can always have them repaired. The warranty is there for a reason!

Is getting your system repaired, more troublesome in the US or something?

I dont live in the US.

There are several annoyances this causes. First you will be without your system for weeks, second theres no garantee the system wont break down again after it is "fixed" and finally the malfunction can be a of the small death type that annoys you for months/years until it finally completely dies (if the thing doesnt completely die, you have a hard time proving the system has problems). At this point your warranty is void and you're gonna have to pay for the repair or buy a new unit.

There is really no advantage to buying systems at launch. Not only those issues but software droughts.

Well if mine breaks Im screwed since I imported mine, its gona be released oficialy here in Brazil but itll cost a small fortune and I dont think the warranty of a US PS4 is valid in Brazil so unless Amazon is in the business of giving money back to ppl in other countrys thats not the US even if they dont return the product (since the transport costs would be prohibitive for me to return the unity) if mine fails Im pretty much dead in the watter, so I hope it works like a charm.

Ben, how many hours would you guestimate you were able to get in with the PS4 before the first failure? I'm still pretty worried this is eventually going to happen to me, I'm absolutely in love with the thing so far and can't stop playing it.

And to everyone talking about buying the extended warranty, remember that you have an automatic 1 year warranty by default, so I wouldn't bother buying the extended warranty until November 15, 2014 at the earliest.

The industry would be dead without us, you would have next to nothing but iphone games and FTP MMOs to play.

Look at how bad things are for the Wii U right now, imagine how much worse things would be if absolutely NO ONE bought in the first year. That amazing Wii U launch has so far been the system's lifeline.
