I've tested the controller at several stores and i must say i find your post to be either an bad attempt to trash on the PS4 or just a bad test controller at that store because i thought the Dualshock 4 controller was a much needed improvement over the Dualshock 3 but that's just from testing at random stores so no solid playtime yet with the controller.

Did you test consist of a stress test of the analog stick or just testing of the controller?

The reason i stress tested the analog stick is due to a 27page thread on neogaf with players reporting on their controllers and posting pictures to go along with it.  These players are posting pictures of wornout analog sticks and i could not imagine that would happen without abuse, so i wanted to test it out myself.  I was stunned in the store when i tested it out, with just 1min of testing the rubber was falling apart.  The rubber on the sticks was changed from the PS3 to the PS4 due to the oil residue on the older sticks if left unused.  My 3yearold PS3 controller shows no problems, i also just stress tested it for 2mins straight.  The new rubber is causing issue on atleast some PS4 controllers.

Post the link to that. Sounds better than this random thread.

Ok, i'm gonna avoid all games that make me rub the thumb stick with my palm.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Yeah, ok. The rubber on my ps4 controller isn't wearing off unless I'll use sandpaper. And thats never happening. This controller is equivalent if not greater than the x360 controller.

All of this, of course, is just my opinion.

Skyrim 100%'d. Dark Souls 100%'d.
Dark Souls > Skyrim.
Halo 4 is the best damn FPS since Halo 3.
Proud pre-orderer of 2 PS4's and an Xbox One.

Currently Playing: Dark Souls II, South Park
Playstation 4: MGS V GZ, Killzone: Shadow Fall, NBA 2k14.

I just played with the controllers today. They feel amazing. They have in the same position as the PS3 analogs but the top of the sticks are concave to support your thumbs. Everyone has their taste.

I cant stand the parralel analog sticks, you think they would have kept up with the times and made the appropriate changes.

Keeping up with the times =/= avoiding patents/licensing issues.  Do you honestly think Microsoft and Nintendo suddenly decided to move one stick way up left for ergonomic reasons?

At least Nintendo somewhat grew a brain with the Wii U Pro Controller and put both of them up top.

This explains all at least as far as OP is concerned.

What do you guys mean by OP??

They must be very sticky :)

Assuming this happened your stress test isn't valid.

Who rubs their thumb really hard in a circular motion on a control stick? Most gamers will place the thumb and operate the stick without the thumb moving around.

You sure that's the reason? Those other third party controllers don't seem to be having any legal problems.

However, even if that was the reason, I definitely much prefer the left stick being placed up higher. Its much more comfortable for my hand. With the PS4 controller, I have to constantly stretch my thumbs backwards for it to properly sit on the stick. This makes sense for the right hand, due to the wider range of motion usually required on that stick, but on the left hand it's better if the stick is placed higher. Your thumbs naturally aim upwards and so it makes sense to place that stick closer to where your thumb would naturally sit because that thumbstick is usually pointed up for most games anyways.

That being said, I still prefer the Xbox 360 controller. The PS4 controller is also less comfortable overall, but then I do have somewhat large hands. I actually loved the Original Xbox controllers. They are still the most comfortable controllers I've ever used.

I was at Best buy today and was able to test out the PS4 they had on display and the analog sticks are garbage is the only way to put it.

After hearing about the PS4 sticks and how they were wearing out very easily i decided to test them out myself.  My test consisted of rubbing the analog stick with my thumb/palm for 30 seconds in a circle pattern, after this time all texture on the PS4 stick had been warn off.  I decided to test this for another 30 seconds, after this time parts of the rubber were clearly rubbing off.  I inspected the controller after the final test to make sure i was not just seeing stuff, but on closer inspection the rubber was looking very rough with flakes clearly falling off.  I feel after another 1min of stress testing the analog stick would be useless for continued gaming.

I don't see how Sony could not see this during the making of the controller or system.  Are the developers using different controllers in their studies?  Did Sony cheap out at the last minute for the analog sticks.  How could something like this happen?

Not sure if trolling, but seriously I lol of your post because I have a PS4 bought KZ SF and BF4, downloaded all PSN+  games, I easely can say I have spend  or more than 10 hours playing with my PS4, I have put some special attention on the analog sticks because of this rumor of the lask weeks and so far not a single sign they look worn on the analog sticks.  So dunno if you are really serious , but I'm forgetting a very importan part, you tried a game controller that is open to the public, from my experience about this kind of controllers since I have tried in lots of different stores(walmart, Toy r us, bestbuy, target, etc) there are always in horrible conditions, Walmar demo consoles are the worst I think the people there handles the controllers horrible!, broken analogs, buttons fell off, totally worn off from a 360, PS3, Wii U, Wiimote controllers.

If you have a PS3 look for my  avatar  : dudex123wako  so you can be asure that I have a PS4 ;)

So I totally disagree with your opinion.
