Developers like Criterion, Slightly Mad Studios, Ubisoft, Shinen, and many others have already stated that they are only utilizing 1 of the Wii U's 3 cores. The things Criterion was able to do with Need For Speed Most Wanted U are just absolutely stunning and blow PS360's version out of the frickin' water! Give it another year or two when developers have learned the hardware inside and out and start developing better engines more geared twoards the Wii U's architecture and start utilizing those other two cores. Oh man are we in for some treats in the future! Once games like Monolith Soft's "X" (this game alone will be worth buying a Wii U for,) Bayonetta II, Smash Bro's, Zelda U, Human Element, Watch_Dogs, and many others, you will be eating your words and they will be like ash in your mouth. I am so excited for the next few months!!! Can't wait until Spring for these games to start dropping! I feel sorry for you, lol... |
Are you trying to convince him or yourself?
Nintendo consoles have been known for software droughts since the N64, but as the old adage goes, people buy Nintendo consoles mostly for 1st party software and this is where the WiiU was absurdly bad.
Regarding NA, the N64 launched with only two 1st party games: SM64 and Pilotwings 64, same as Gamecube with Luigi's Mansion and Waverace Bluestorm. The WiiU also launched with two: NSMBU and Nintendoland.
The difference was that with N64 we got Waverace 64 just over a month later and both Mario Kart 64 and Blast Corps by February. This held us over until the summer when Starfox 64 and Goldeneye arrived. With the Cube we got Pikmin and Smash just a couple of weeks after launch.
The WiiU, however, didn't see a single internally developed game after launch for a full seven months - and then all we got was Game & Wario until, finally, Luigi U and Pikmin arrived in August. This was the unfortunate result of Nintendo's transition to HD while also supporting another platform (3DS).
Since the PS4/XB1 won't rely as heavily on 1st party games, in their worst case scenario they will still at least have 3rd party games to fill the gaps between the Driveclubs and Kinect Sports Rivals. That doesn't mean the consoles' sales may not slow down considerably, but the software releases that the userbases will support won't be a sparse as WiiU's were.
No offense, but this an obvious Nintendo bias outlook. A simple look at PS4/ XBone game preorders in the US alone prove how wrong this statement is. Not only are there tons more games being released on the systems from here on out, they're also going to sell substantially better than the Wii-U. Wii-U is last gen hardware with nothing but poor third party ports and the same old same old Nintendo first party titles releasing for it. Third party support isn't an issue with the PS4/ XBone and that's going to become more and more apparent as the next gen consoles move on and leave the Wii-U behind.

Probably because those games were late and or inferior ports, basically not games worth buying a system for. XB1/PS4 wont have this problem because their games are releasing close enough and are the superior versions. |
no argument there, well for the most part, I think the inferior part is overblown when it comes to those launch games. AC3, COD werent inferior and the late ones was pretty good for the most part. My point was, that alot of those games sold like crap, so my question to the people that were complaining about droughts, what were you expecting and why not buy some of the dozens of games that WERE released in the launch window, and even if one makes the argument that they had a console with those games already, why the hell even buy a Wii u in the first place? at least that soon.

Pikmin and Wonderful 101 vs. Infamous and Drive club but what made it more difficult for WiiU was as you send the huge delay not simply the fact that it was delayed |
Infamous was never a launch game. Where do people keep getting this?

yeah i never got that, WIi U had a lot of games at launch. If a drought was such a big issue, why didnt people buy those?! |
Theres a good chance that people who bought Wii U at or around launch also are PS3/360 owners so mostly late ports of games they already played arent really going to help during a drought.

then i would question why such a person would buy a Wii U at launch in the first place. Most of the games were going to be ports and it was apparent that Ninty themselves wouldnt have that much in the pipeline in the first few months(and the didnt)

Pikmin 3, Rayman Legends, Wonderful 101, Wii Fit U, Game & Wario were all originally launch window games, add that to Lego City Undercover and u could average one exclusive per month in the first half of the year.
