Forums - Gaming Discussion - PS4 and XBONE are in for the same drought as WiiU

Its the same with every console.

The issue was exacerbated with the Wii U cause Ubi soft got dumb and pulled Rayman Legends. Also pikmin getting delayed 6+ months was a huge oversight by Nintendo.

Nintendo has the most issues with this because people don't play multiplats on Nintendo consoles. As much fuss as Nintendo fans make about it online, they don't support those games either. Dollars to donughts after publishers see this holiday's sales, CoD/Batman/Ass Creed are pretty much done with the Wii U going forward. There's no audience there.

For someone on the PS4 ... NBA 2K14 or Battlefield 4 may be their equivalent to a Smash Bros. or something. That's a big difference.

You forgot to add that multiplats are popular on Sony and Microsoft consoles whereas Nintendo relies heavily on exclusives. People can easily play games like BF4, FIFA 14, COD Ghosts and Shawdowfall until Second Son releases. On top of that annoucments for games like Uncharted, GT etc. will keep the general public hyped and for this reason they will continue to buy PS4's.

He's ignoring an army of third party titles. InFamous is coming out in March alongside Titanfall. This guy is having some of the good stuff. Nintendo has to rely on exclusives so their droughts will last a very, very long time.

From my view it looks like both PS4 and XboxOne have quite alot of quality games releasing in Q1/Q2

No. WiiU didn't have a drought if you just count any old games. WiiU had a drought in decent noticeable software, something xbox one definitely does not have.

December: Halo SA, Peggle 2, Xbox Fitness
January: D4, Spinal DLC for KI
February: Rayman Origins, Thief
March: Titanfall, Fulgore DLC for KI, Elder Scrolls Online
April: PVZ Garden Warfare, Kinect Sports Rivals

Q1/Q2: Project Spark, Watchdogs, Fantasia and Destiny

Good heavens.  I'm all for saying that situations between Wii-U and PS4/XBone are different, but saying Wii-U had a drought in "noticeable software" and then listing the underlined games kinda makes it seem like you're trying to sabotage your own argument.  Late ports are what got the Wii-U into this mess in the first place and counting DLC as "noticeable software", really?

Also, I can't find anywhere that says D4 is scheduled for a January release, got a link for that?  All I'm finding is the first episode will be Q1.

I was under the impression WiiU went months without any noticable software at all coming out?? What came out January to June?

The KI dlc is more for me I admit :P

It got LEGO City, Monster Hunter 3G Ultimate, a late but fairly solid Need For Speed port, Game & Wario, and Injustice.

Hahahahaha.

WiiU lanches without the ability to play 8th gen games, and doesn't showcase any graphical prowess over the much cheaper, and already established, PS3 and xbox.

Saying it is down to simply how many games are out is just wrong. People here are really clutching at straws trying to big up the WiiU.

Oh please, if anyone were to pull up an unlabelled graphical comparison between Wii U versions of a game and PS4 versions, I dare them to guess correctly.  The difference just isn't that big...  I was looking at the Assassins Creed one IGN had up and it was only when they had them side by side and only when it was a graphically intensive scene that you could see the difference.

Wii U had a perfectly fine launch lineup, that wasn't its problem and never was, it had the best launch lineup in gaming history from any standpoint you look at it.  The problem with the Wii U was that it came into the scene with the stigma of being the successor to the Wii which many people labelled as the kiddy or old person console.  The console that abandoned the core gamer.  Thus word of mouth was terrible.  I remember going into the store to buy Zombi U and overhearing two people openly joking around about the Wii U being a bad console.

"Wii U had a perfectly fine launch lineup, that wasn't its problem and never was, it had the best launch lineup in gaming history from any standpoint you look at it" .

Are you by any chance a comedian?

Wii U games are 8th gen, categorically. To state otherwise is revisionism.

No it isn't. The Wii U gets 7th gen ports so why instantly is everything on it 8th gen? They arent. If I go and play MGS on my PS3 its not suddenly a 5th gen console is it? Its a 5th gen game on a 7th gen console. Im waiting for a real 8th gen game to appear on the wiiu as everything at the moment seems to be just what the xbox and ps3 can already do.

PS4 and XOne also get 7th gen ports. In fact, most of the games they'll get are 7th gen ports. Your point...?

So explain to me the reason noone is buying the Wii U.
