Forums - Gaming Discussion - Something I think some people need to remember about nextgen

Basically what I mean is that at the launch of a generation the games that are exclusive to that generation are generally worse than the games that are at this point available for the last generation (of course I know that there have been exceptions to that rule), but at the end of a generation the games will generally be better than the games of the past generation. I'm not talking about specific games, just about the average game quality and if we try to keep nostalgia out of the equation, then that is not something that is very hard to agree with I think(...hope )

I agree with this to an extent.  There are games that are of quality that come out at the end of the generation but there are also crappy games that have come out at the end of the generation.

Not everything that comes out at a launch is bad though.  PS2 launch had Dead or Alive 2, Armored Core 2, Timesplitters, SSX, Tekken Tag Tournament, Unreal Tournament(I list this only because it's good on PC,) Evergrace, and Eternal Ring are good.  Debatably.  I like Evergrace and Eternal Ring, some people might not.  They're no Demon's Souls, but they're good.

I think Armored Core 2 is probably one of the best examples though.  Great game.  As a fan of the series, I'll say this.  As good as Armored Core 4 and For Answer are, they're not launch titles and they're not as good as the the classic series.  Armored Core 5 is just a massive disappointment and Verdict Day was just released.   I will go so far to say that in my personal opinion, Armored Core 5 is a piece of shit that I only still own because I feel obligated to as a long time fan of the series.

Good job mang!

This is so accurate! It was the same at the beginning of the Ps3 and 360, and it will be the same for Xbone and Ps4.

Eh I don't know. I'm loving Killzone and Knack is pretty good.

Oh and Resogun is beast.

You should change that second graph. Current gen and next gen should be parallel to one another just different time based. Because doesn't matter if it's next gen or not, there are a lot of games better for past gens that are better than a lot of current gen games.

Your graph gives the assumption that next gen games are going to be hands down better than prior gen games the later in the gen you get.

No.   Just.  No.
