True, but I've seen videos demonstrating great ping on average connections. Maybe some people have bad variables, but the service definitely works in many places, maybe more big cities than rural. Who knows. I guess the experience will be different for everybody, but Sony can't really help that. I like the option though. |
I made a post on GAF on what influences your experience based on how you want to use remote play:
Experience on the different possibilities (from best to worst):
1. Wifi direct
Experience will only depend on connection quality/distance between PS4 and Vita.
2. Local Network
Experience will greatly depend on connection quality between PS4 <-> router (perhaps even repeaters making it worse) <-> Vita and your home networking hardware
3. Remote wifi
Experience will depend on your home networking hardware, *your* internet access (bandwidth, latency), remote internet access (bandwidth, latency), your connection/quality to the remote wifi and the routing between local site and remote site.
4. Remote 3g
Same as 3, but even worse bandwidth/latency on remote site.
