Xbox One - 70m

Quit with excuses, Ghosts flopped hard. It's a reason why Activision had that built in excuse sold $1bil to retailers in 24 hours, not customers. It's a reason why Activision wasn't cocky, & bragging this year 1st day after release, they did it the last 4 years, but not this year. Next hen releases shouldn't be an excuse, GTA5 is at 25mil already. Ghosts was expected to beat GTA5, but since GTA5 won, now here comes the excuses. Yes, 2.9mil for CoD is a flop, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. BF3 sold that 3 years ago.

Ignore the elephant in the room all you want. why didn't battlefield do as well this time? NEXT GEN CONSOLES

Why did GTA 5 do so well? september launch plus no announced plans of a next gen release so if you wanted it, you'd have to get the current versions.

If GTA was announced next gen less people would hold out because there is a lot of time inbetween september and november but ghost released in the same month the new consoles are releasing in.

But hey what ever floats your boat. Ignorance is bliss.

^Yes that's me ripping it up in the GIF. :)

Finally people are fed up over same formula. COD was a refreshing game back in 2003. It became cool with Modern Warfare 1. It became mainstream with modern warfare 2 and black ops. Now its a generic game.

It's a combination of:

1. People switching over and buying it on the PS4/XB1

2. Players going over to Battlefield 4

3. General series fatigue

I know the thread is meant to be satirical hyperbole, but the series is still massive and will likely continue to be a force in the 8th gen. Which is disappointing, because I don't want the 8th gen to just be a continuation of the 7th with the same series dominating the charts.

Not surprised, the hype has died. They killed it. Should stopped annual releases after Black Ops.

2
Call of Duty: Ghosts (XOne)

You're ignoring many people are waiting for the 8th gen releases instead. It might be down YoY, but series is still going strong.

Furthermore, BF4 saw a massive decline on 7th gen consoles and that isn't an annual series.

Hence, your logic is wrong.

Given the context, it could be considered a "flop".

I think first month comparisons will be better, because of the weird circumstances. Though I still expect a huge drop. I think people were holding off for next console as well, that won't actually end up buying it.

I hesitate to call anything that sells that much and is going to make money a flop. I think expectations were lower for this as well.
However, underperforming I'd say for certain. But this is just semantics.

Get your point, but a flop is a flop. Like if Avengers 2 doesn't gross $1bil, it'll be a flop, & it definitely needs to surpass the 1st one in order not to be labeled a flop. CoD is no different especially the way they paraded around MW2 - BO2 sales. All this proves is that GTA is this generations hottest series. GTA5 sold 25mil in under 2 months, CoD takes 8 months, to a year to do that. & Red Dead is about to be on COD heels whenever the next 1 is released.
