Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Did...did Nintendo just rip off of Mutant Mudds?

As many other people said it's a very common game mechanic. So it would be a stretch to suggest that Nintendo stole this from a small indie company.

Around the Network

They ripped off 1995's Yoshi's Island.

Nintendo rips off everyone and everyone does the same back to Nintendo, its a sick vicious circle of shame and pleasure.

The industry is filled with copy cats. It shouldn't matter though because a lot of the time when something gets copied it also improves on it. At the end of the day what matters is if it turned out good or bad. To innovate you often times have to reinvent what is already good just to make it better.

They have never seen the other game before, so it's not a rip off

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Around the Network

Because the idea of going between the foreground and background is sooooo incredibly novel.....

Considering Mutant Mudds is a 3DS eShop title I'm pretty sure Nintendo has seen it. With that said it's still not a rip-off since it's such a commonly used tactic in platformers.

Oh to answer you other question man!

To embed a video you have to scroll down in the youtube page to the part where it says: "Share" you have to make sure to use the old embed code!

Then you use a Rich Text Reply and select the HTML button. You copy and paste the old embed code and hit update! And there you go!

Thanks.

Also, I never played (nor saw any videos for) the virtual boy.  I was kinda shocked to see such a similarity between the two games. I guess it makes sense that they would have common influence, makes sense.
