Forums - Gaming Discussion - Digital Foundry: Dead RIsing 3 goes down to 20 fps

Yep, PC with 1080p 60fps and ps4 720p with real 30fps

Around the Network

lame...

Seriously we need some kind of law that makes it illegal for a game to go below 30....

Petition anyone xD ?

Capcom choose the wrong platform to make this game exclusive.

Agreed, a PC would have been so much better

^ Ditto. I think PC as an accommodating platform for realising the full vision of any developer should be a right. Not a choice.

Maybe it just me but I read all the article...

"The statement from the team is that a locked 30fps is targeted here, but in the build we saw there's a huge gap to be bridged in this regard; drops to 20fps are consistent and sustained when outdoors, with 16fps being our record low during some of the biggest explosions."

It goes below 20fps.

DF itself said the 20fps is the avg. performance of the game.

They played the game I didn't. So they know better than I do.

But the IGN and Gamespot folks said that it only dips from 30fps when it is very crowded.

Good for you. Why do you have a PS3? Please sell it, I will give you good money for it, just to be sure that I don't have the same device that you do, ughh :-/

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

I can't wait for the outrage of the people who claimed in the other threads they wouldn't even accept slight dips from 60fps

It will likely be along the lines of "it's all about gameplay, I hardly even notice frame rate drops and the series always suffered from less detailed graphics and inconsistent framerate".

Personally I think the game looks good and I don't doubt people will have fun with it, just like I enjoyed my PS3 games although several ones have similar problems. Yet I sincerely hope that on average we will see a big increase in image quality and frame rate consistency this gen.

This is not even funny anymore!

there is a difference between "dips to 20fps" and "running at 20 fps"

OP needs some schooling

The lowest framerate they got was 16fps... seems like thew 20fps is the stable framerate.

I have to disagree with you.

"a chugging 20fps during the zombie action while out in the big city."- Digital Foundry

Now ask any developer to insert that many zombies (or any polygon object with that dimension) that DR3 has in their games, to see how smooth would they run.

I'm pretty sure it is 30fps during less crowded moments and dips to lower numbers in the contrary. You make it seem like 20fps is the real locked framerate but I don't believe it is by the videos I've seen on IGN and Gamespot.

Actually, when the AI is almost non existant its easier to have that many enemies on screen. God of War 3 kept a steady above 40 framerate during i90% of the time and it had up to 50 enemies on screen. During Hercules fight, framerate was even abover 50 some of the time

Its a Capcom made game. Do you really expect it to be the mother of all games? Come on, man. Capcom, Bungie & Respawn will probably have the least visually appealing games even though their games will be the most fund. Their games were never the best this gen and they are starting out this gen pretty bad. Hell, even watchdogs doesn't look anywhere near as good as the best looking next gen games. Resolution aside, just play the game.

Didn't the PS4 version of COD:Ghost get crap for dropping to 50 FPS? Or was it further? 16fps at 720p is just sad...
