Forums - Gaming Discussion - Honest Opinion: Do you think Call of Duty is a bad series?

Single player is alright. I'd say BO2 was the best in this regard.

Multiplayer is fairly fun but repetitive. I usually get each game, play it for about 15-20 hours over the course of a week, and then never touch it again. Ghosts is actually the first game in the series I haven't bought around launch since MW2. I've watched people playing it on YT over the past few days and it just looks like a worse version of MW3, which is by far my least favorite game in the series. At this point I might just stick to the Treyarch games (especially since I greatly enjoy Zombies).

Anyway, the criticism towards the franchise is way overdone and silly in most cases. It's not a super amazing series but it's entertaining, which is why it gets the sales it does.

I thought that Ghost looked bad to until I started playing it.  It's way better that MW3 imo, the hit detection is the best in the series, maps are kind of bad though.  Overall it's pretty darn good.

It's rather average imo

MW2 was like crack for me. So yes, certain entries in the series were great. Like any series I guess. I got Ghosts on PC and it's currently a terrible game. I doesn't like my PC at all. I get framerate drops regularly on medium settings and my GPU is showing less than 50% usage. Engage SLI and you're asking for trouble. I hope they fix it soon cos it seems pretty good when it's playable.

I played it a couple times and had fun, so I would say no from a "fun-aspect" viewpoint.

its good but it isn't what the hype lets you believe

Honest answer: yes.

I don't think they're badly MADE. But I don't think the franchise has much actual substance or value to it outside of people who love online deathmatches. They really have never been all that original or innovative in the FPS genre, and the single player campaigns tend to be rather short, with most development focus given to multiplayer. If some people enjoy the games, great. But I would not call it a "good" series.

I'm not a HUGE FPS guy, but if you're going to be into that genre, you can do much better. It's like I put it to a GameStop employee (in front of some customers) once. CoD is basically the McDonald's of video games. A lot of people eat it, but it holds little actual substance or value.

It can't be a bad series if it keeps selling millions upon millions. It has to be doing something right compared to every other game that flops hard.

Yes, because that theory tends to play out so well in Hollywood too, right?

Twilight and Transformers and Fast & Furious MUST be inherantly good movies, if they do such good business, compared to actual good films that get not even a franction of the budget or promotion.

Hmm. I like the sound of that. But still, until they fix some of the issues with the PC version I think I'll wait. Maybe if there's a Steam sale I'll pick it up.
