It´s weird Sony stoped counting the PS4 pre-orders at about 1.5mi (two months ago). Why stop the preorders if the demand was so strong? They seem to be enough supply.

I don´t know how it´s going in the other 30s or so "secundary markets" but if Brazil is any indication the PS4 is a no show anywhere in any major retailers. The Xbox One on the other hand has it count down every were, even popular retailers, that have no information if the console will be available.

We are at the launch week and I haven´t noticed any marketing barage any where. Is Sony holding its guns for the cristmas? Or they are so confident the hardcore gamers could make the PS4 a success alone?

No they're leaving stock on shelves so people who don't have pre-orders still have a chance at getting one this holiday. 

Same predictions Nintendo had for the Wii U if I remember correctly. PS4 might not have games, but at least people know what it is. I reckon with a boost from Second Son it should reach the 5 mil.

It will launch on Japan only in February, so it can sell 2M worldwide between Jan-March.

Sounds like theyre confident they can meet demand.

Howmuch did wiiu sell First year? like 2.6mil right? (it had japan sales included though)

It had sold 2.37 million on the 5th of january 2013.

3m this year, 1m in the west from Jan-Mar and 1m in Japan since it launches in February

And people are saying that consoles and handhelds are dying. If the PS4 and X1 can pull this one and the vita and wiiU can start having decent numbers, both markets might not go down too much over gen 7 which would be a surprise for many people.

"If you can find a PS3 on shelves for more than five minutes, I'll give you $1200 for it"

The contrast in PS3/4 launch is amazing. Kick them while they're down, and they'll come back fighting lol
