NEW CLUES:

4 - One of the largest technological achievements in coding ever.  Invented mostly all of the multiplayer functionality that is still used in gaming today including the most prolific TCP/IP game networking model.  Responsible for emergence of the machinima artform of films made in game engines.  The best 1v1 game of all time, and widely considered the first game to be played "professionally" due to a famous prize offering.

3 - A miserable little pile of secrets.

2 - My favorite soundtrack, bosses, levels and ending in gaming history.  Just use the hyper beam, and hurry up for the ending.

4 -DOOM, of course

3 - Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

2- Pokemon RBY?

4 - No, close but Doom is #1.

3 - Yes

2 - No

4 - Quake, then?

I'm way behind, so I'll just leave all of these up here to be guessed in their own time. I consider clues 1-7 to be especially difficult.

11: One of the finest games of all time, but it's best known for its mod and its successor.

7: This one is dedicated to all of the androids in nearby space by a popular robotic singer.

11. Half Life?

7. Up Your Arsenal

5. I feel like I should know this, my best friend's username for something was root_vegetables but I never asked him what it was from.

11 - it's funny, you're the third person to guess that and I didn't even think of it fitting the clue. Each of the three games in the clue is in a different genre.

7 - I knew you'd get this one

5 - "root vegetable" isn't a direct quote.

10: Three alarms and you're out? This isn't a video game.

9: Sometimes radically overhauling your game can work wonders as part of a project to bring it back to life.

8: Showed that this developer still has talent, and does actually listen to fan feedback (about something they screwed up pretty badly first time around)

7: This one is dedicated to all of the androids in nearby space by a popular robotic singer.

6: Turn back time and have your revenge...almost.

5: Citrus and root vegetables

4: I'd tell him to shrug.

3: Heads or heads?

2: He came like the wind, like the wind touched everything, and like the wind was gone

1: You don't need a clue for this one.Or if you do, just raise your weapon in the air...

11. Half-Life

10. Angry Birds

9. Warcraft 3

8. Skyrim

7. Portal 2

6. Red Dead Redemption

5. Plants versus Zombies

4. God of War 3

3. Uncharted 2

2. Shadows of the Colussus

1. Zelda Skyward Sword

Kantor's not a particular Zelda fan. The others sound like good guesses.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

11) Yeesh, why does EVERYONE think of that one before the one I had in mind?

10) >_>

9) Think more carefully about the second part of the clue. It applies to the story of the game.

8) In this case, it was feedback about an aspect of the game, which they acted on and corrected in DLC.

7) Already guessed by Kresnik and unlikely to be guessed by anyone who isn't a huge fan of R&C: Up Your Arsenal, but here you go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4SsMtmcf4w

6) It was lower down the list. I meant the clue more literally than that.

5) Clever, but you're thinking along the wrong lines. Look for synonyms.

4) Nope.

3) Nope.

2) Nope. This is a very difficult one, and I don't really expect that 95% of people would be able to get it without googling.

1) Again, very clever. But I'm not referring to the game's name.

A number of those are correct but in the wrong position.

lol that's too difficult Kantor.

Hints galore!

#7: The cake is very real
#6: It was the start of this developer's obsession with atmospheric phenomenas
#5: It was the start of this developer's obsession with dark worlds (I think it was the first)
#4: The story of this game follows the story of a secondary hero who falls in the hands of the enemy and comes back to become of the greatest vilains of all-time.
#3: The online was good DAMMIT!
#2:
The story of this acclaimed sequel tells us the hero didn't achieve squat in the first game but the game couldn't really keep it name if the title character didn't come back.
#1: Features a RickRolling robot.

Deus Ex (PC/2000) Guessed by S.Peelman

Is it me or do people not talk about Deus Ex a lot? I hardly ever see it included in top 10 video game lists. Maybe that's why it took me so long to discover. When I signed up for Steam, Deus Ex was one of the first few games I purchased. So far it's been the best investment I've made there. It's hard to describe Deus Ex in detail because its story is so good it should never be spoiled, and because the game belongs to so many different genres. It's part stealth action game, part first-person shooter, part role-playing game. It's certainly one of the most transcendent video games of all time, one that goes beyond the limitations of any particular genre, indeed one that goes beyond the limitations of video games and charts a new course for interactive art. It's that good. And it's that important. Deus Ex is defined by choices, small and large, each of which determines one's reputation, one's abilities and items, and one's ultimate future in the game world. It's a game of ideas, first and foremost. Perhaps that's why it still shines so brightly today.
