"MOST of their audience came from how Sony failed with the PS3..."

Seriously, you guys should take a break :)

Well, Sony kinda DID lose ~70Mil customers with the PS3 while at the same time MS gained over 50Mil customers compared to the OG Xbox. Nintendo may have gained almost 80Mil new customers, but those were mostly casuals (as you guys here have never been tired of pointing out since before the launch of the WiiU ;).

If we assume these customers didn't completely drop out of Gaming it should be pretty safe to assume a not unreasonable of them migrated over from Sony to MS.

I agree with the core of the bolded statement (although it most certainly isn't the majority), not so much with his conclusion.

"Even the DRM would not be a "real" problem because even the Xbox 360 is pretty much just a Box without Xbox Live"

Wow...no it is a big deal because people like to have freedom with their games, even after Xbox Live is not support on the 360 people can still hang on to their games and play them forever or sell them, with the previous policies people's games would have become paper weights on the X1 after the system was done being supported and Microsoft would have forced people to buy the next Xbox.

It only became a real problem after the PS4 was announce to be at $400 with no restrictions. Before E3 Xbox one was the most pre-ordered and "best selling per hour" game console on Amazon. And 2 weeks after the PS4 was announce at $400, PS4 launch, KZ bundle, Battefield Bundle even the PS4 regular console were among top 10 "best Selling" per hour on Amazon.

Is the Xbox one DRM anti-consumer? Yes... Do I support it? No.      Do I think that DRM would be a problem for MS to sell the Xbox one if the PS4 was not $100 cheaper? No,  because their main target are US and UK where Internet is pretty decent in those countries.

That doesn't matter, you insuated that without Live on the 360 that it is pretty much the same as the X1 with its DRM policies which is completely wrong and is what I explained.  Also if the X1 and PS4 were both $400 and the X1 had the DRM policies and the PS4 didn't idk how anyone can say the X1 would do fine...You act as if the US and UK markets would buy the X1 no matter what Microsoft tries to do.  Also the issue isn't if the internet is good or not, its having freedom to do what someone wants with what they spend hundreds of dollars on.  I have good internet and I wouldn't go anywhere near the X1 if it still had those DRM policies.

the answer is in your post. they thought only people with good internet were worth making their product for.
and after the uproar, you still think DRM isnt a 'real' issue?

if you ignore the competition you fail
if you ignore the end consumer you fail
if your whole organisation gets tunnel vision and ignores feedback and market research, you fail.

I bet it took major shareholders to storm into xbox HQ and make the employees see the light before it got on track again. i dont think they messed up, the whole world KNOWS they messed up.

Did you read the post with an open mind??? So you really think MS forgot about the competition and ignore consumer??? Don't you remember Xbox fan people even getting mad after Xbox did the 180 on DRM. Ask yourself that question, if PS4 was $500 or $600, you think DRM would still be the big story, specially in the US where MS has a much better control over the media??? MS was able to sell to people that the Xbox is cheaper than $600 PS3 which is false after 5 years of XBL. That is the kind of promoting, advertising and media control MS has... Even today you will hear people saying $500 on Xbox one doesn't matter event with 720p graphics.

You  have got to give credits to SONY for doing such a wonderfull jobs, the end of SONY E3 was one of the greatest "Finish Him" (mortal kombat style) I have seen in the gaming industry.

I cant read with an open mind because youre using too many if's.

all im saying is that regardless of the price, the DRM they were planning to implement was always going to be an issue for them.

I know some of its loyal fanbase stuck with them, and they would even if they charged €1000 for the thing and it would have still sold a few thousand units, but that doesnt mean they didnt mess up which is the title of this thread.

How about you answer that. Your the one that should take a break here. This site is supposed to be about sales LOL. If you can't handle those facts then don't show up posting a dumb response to my posts.
