Forums - Gaming Discussion - Nintendo take on digital sell

http://www.gamrreview.com/news/90678/iwata-digital-prices-same-as-physical-so-consumers-value-software/

Still waiting for people saying Nintendo is the devil... I'm sure that most that said if Xbone digital-only plans were closer to Steam it would be acceptable saw MS charging as much as a retail version they would be really bashed...

We all expect digital to cost less because you can't resell, there aren't logistics costs involved (at least most of it), all the profit goes to publisher/platform holder, etc... when they charge the same it seems more like growth of margin and overcharging their base... by their words about selling really good the digital games (that could be lost with a drop of support or any of the other reasons people discussed to the end for Xbone) Nintendo gamers don't seem to care to much to be abused by Nintendo.

I think that the "bye 2 games" and get one full retail download in japan are the way to go..

The eshop will be soon take of.. And in few years make more than retail.. Nintendo are going to earn the shit this way.. :)

And who can complain about free wii-fit "demo" and sport club

I do care. That's why my only digital purchases on my Wii U are some Super metroid (when it was less than a dollar), RE: Revelations (50% discount) and Zelda WW (who cares about the price, is one of the greatest games of all time).

Nintendo soon will steal me again with Wii Sports club but I think that's the last chance for them in a long time that they'll benefit from my credit card on their e-shop.

I have been less likely to buy the digital version of any of their games because of pricing. The few exceptions have been the 30 cent titles or the $1-$1.50 repurchasing of the Wii version and Super Luigi U for $20.

At the same price, I'd rather have the retail boxed version. And sometimes store prices (on sale) can be cheaper than the digital version.

well I did not know that the games are downloaded from the heavens, because from my perspective some kind of servers are needed. Those servers are positioned inside buildings. Those servers generate heat, a problem that needs to be addressed by a cooling system. By having a cooling system and servers, things fail. When thing fails they need to be fixed. To be fixed money is needed. So when you say games need to cost less, I prefer to think that even though games are not shipped nor have a plastic on it, there is a system that needs money to be run. And by not having any online subscription and all games still released physically, I prefer to have that option on a Nintendo console. My opinion.

You guys do know that Nintendo offers you 5$ back for every 50$ you spend on their WiiU online store right?

And yes they also have sales as such. The price of admission is the same for them yes. Unless the game is 5$ less on the eshop like some of the games are.

Even Valve only lets you buy new games for 10% off or somethign at launch if you say for instance had a previous game in the series or some other requirement

Rather than words, reality.

Iwata's answering an investor question lol.

I buy digital games because even at full price they are waaay cheaper than buying them in my country. Digital games are somewhat of a saving grace for me (economically at least).

Yep! Even here it's arguably cheaper to go all digital! The prices for videogames here are ridiculous!

plus it saves the journey time and money of driving all the way to the store and back, i dont see a problem with it.

I buy digital games just when they are less than 50% of retail... And i love my boxes.
