Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Ryse Son Of Rome. Best graphics of all next gen titles from a technical standpoint says IGN.

Wow, fanboyism at its best. An overinflated thread title. Taken out of context. Grasping at the straws, every last piece of it.

So one guy's casual remark sets it deep in the stones?

Write something meaningful and make it a thread worth reading next time. If you spend more time backing up your claims with credible reviews at least I would take you seriously.

Please try harder next time round.

Best Next-Gen graphics below 1080p? Yeah... no. I mean, it's kinda subjective because of art style and everything, but purely from a technical standpoint, I'd bet my money on Killzone any day.

Resolution alone can't determine best graphics. GT5 on 1080p doesn't look as good as Forza 4.

I assume Killzone might be the best looking launch title as well. But I found the Ryse trailers more visually stunnning. We'll just have to wait for the reviews.

I agree when we're talking visually which is what matters in my eyes. How a game looks when you look at it, regardless of any knowledge to what kind of game it is (eg why linear games generally ALWAYS are better looking).

But Selly seems to claim that Ryse is technically better which is false. 1080p is more of a technical achievement. That's all.

I thought you were making some good points, then I read your last sentence... that makes no sense.

Killzone apparently sacrificed 60 fps during the campaign so it could be 1080p.

BF4 will run at a lower resolution than CoD Ghosts, but BF4 is still more technically impressive. But with your logic, the higher resolution game is more technically impressive. That's false.

Why are Uncharted and Last of Us considered the best looking games on PS3? Why not some other game running at 1080p?

Yeah, well, my point is that imo Killzone does not only look better, it also manages to do just that at a higher resolution and higher framerate. That's why it's graphically more impressive in my eyes. But you also have to take the stronger hardware into account, maybe Crytek would have outdone Guerilla Games if they made Ryse for PS4, who knows.

I see what you're saying. But here's an example...

Lets say I'm playing PC games on my crappy computer. I can run Deux Ex: HR fine at 720p. However, BF3 runs awful on my computer.

Does that mean Deus Ex: HR is the better looking game? Absolutely not. Those choppy frames I'm getting in BF3 are still technically more impressive than Deus Ex: HR.

If Ryse were on the PS4. It might be 1080p, but the frame rate would have likely stayed at 30 fps.

Why are Uncharted and Last of Us considered the best looking games on PS3? Why not some other game running at 1080p?

Because few games run at 1080 and look as good as those games do.

Obviously this isn't a "If 1080, insta win" kind of thing. But clearly you can agree on Shadow Fall giving Ryse a run for its money.

And ontop of that: Uncharted and TLOU while arguably the best looking games on the PS3, visually: are not exactly as technically impressive as say.. GTAV. Most awards seem to be based off of visual detail and fidelity hence why they are regarded as the best looking games on consoles.

But anyway back to TECHNICAL graphics =>

Now factor in 1080 for SF, with a variable framerate of 30-45 or whatever "unlocked" means (we have to wait and see) along with 60 fps on MP.

All I am saying is that the gap between Ryse and Shadow Fall is a "wait and see" as of now. It's hard to judge based off of videos only (check out the high bitrate release that GG did for SF and you'll see just how much youtube and other websites are ruining the real quality of these games).

And the resolution and framerate is in favour of Killzone.

Ontop of that: Killzone also offers larger levels with several ways to tackle things along with Higgers (helghast xD) which are known to have a great AI (furthermore: I've played it on the game convention and infact it was pretty damn clever) =>

When you add 1+1, you get 2.

Could Ryse still be visually better? Sure. Technically? It isn't likely but who knows. Maybe SF has some major issues. We have to wait and see.
