Didn't the PS3 outship the 360 back in January? Something doesn't really add up.

Whatever, the PS3 is a beast right now and will easily outsell the 360 in the coming months and years. So who cares when exactly it will take over? 360 is third place when all is said and done. Seriously, you should just #dealwithit.

So 80 million 360's shipped a few weeks ago and then 80 million PS3's shipped a few days ago. I think we're going to need more to go on to say the 360 officially outsold anything. Especially considering that the 360's shipped number was 79.4 million in September and estimated to be 78 million for the PS3... back in March.

Sold to retailer doesn't equal sold to consumers

but how do we know that 360 is ahead? PS3 is selling more than 360 weekly by a wide margin so 360 sales will have needed a longer time for the sales to reach the cap in order for more consoles to be shipped, correct?

It says that the "ps3 sold/shipped over 80 million" and which would obviously be below 81 million.

The official shipped number for ps3 could be at 80.8 shipped for all we know. PS3's are selling faster than 360's so we could still be very close to accurate but who knows

How many times do we have to tell users the differences between sold and shipped?
Everytime a news pops up that some group of fanboyz dislike, the same discussion pops up.

MS shipped 80 million Xbox 360s in October.
Sony shipped 80 million PS3s in November.

And the 78 million number from March included the PS2.

Those are the facts and now please flame the heck out of yourselves!
