Forums - General Discussion - Nintendo scholars, help me out!

OK, I'm working on this [undisclosed project], and I need some help.  What I need is keywords that describe Nintendo pre-NES.  Examples grifted directly from the Wikipedia article on Nintendo included "Hanafuda" and "Fusajiro Yamauchi," but can range as recent as "Game and Watch," or "Donkey Kong."

I might not end up finishing this thing, but if I do, I'll let all you guys know.  Please help with your obscure knowledge.

Thanks to you!

pre-nes they actually were making the handheld games as well as other various other electronic toys. Before that, however, I believe they mainly made the "hanafuda" cards. If you look around, there have been several articles online in the last year or so about Nintendo's origins.

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.

pre-NES.. they made board games lol.

and card games, and food, and taxis, and erotic hotels, and a surprising amount of electronic devices for both practical and entertainment uses.

I wanted Nintendo scholars, not Nintendo ignoramuses. Thanks, though.

I should clarify, what I want are words that have something to do with Nintendo. Like, if you were to do the same thing, except for SNES, a list might be along the lines of (in completely random order)

Yoshi,
Rareware,
Starfox,
Link to the Past,
Mario Kart,
Super GameBoy,
Mario Paint,
Super-Scope

Pre-nes...hmm Nintendo was at the height of its peek until a meteor crashed into the yucatan peninsula 65 million years ago. they were rivaling with Mu/Atlantis. The technology was lost and kept secret from other pre existing ancient rivals in Tibet an dIndia where scholars kept vimana texts. Whew hope that helped.nah It was cards and I believe they have been in business since 1889 Nintendo Co., Ltd., of Kyoto, Japan, is the acknowledged worldwide leader in the creation of interactive entertainment. To date, Nintendo has sold more than one billion video games worldwide, created such industry icons as Mario and Donkey Kong and launched franchises like The Legend of Zelda and Pokémon. Nintendo manufacturers and markets hardware and software for its popular home video game systems, including Nintendo 64 and Game Boy - The world's best selling video game system. As a wholly owned subsidiary, Nintendo of America Inc., based in Redmond, Washington, serves as headquarters for Nintendo's operations in the Western Hemisphere, where more than 40 percent of American households own a Nintendo game system. http://www.ncecbvi.org/students/keith/Nintendo.html 1889 - Fusajiro Yamauchi, the great-grandfather of the present president, began manufacturing "Hanafuda," Japanese playing cards, in Kyoto. 1902 - Mr. Yamauchi started manufacturing the first playing cards in Japan. Originally for export, the product became popular in Japan as well as abroad.

Here is a link of info, I actually use to live in bellevue(right by Redmond) their building is pretty well guarded etc. They also own the Seattle Mariners and the Ex-NOA president Howard Lincoln resides on the board for the Mariners(Baseball team) http://www.ncecbvi.org/students/keith/Nintendo.html PS they chose redmond, because of the shipment areas near seattle(closet port/lack of storms for shipping. they actually were looking at California but Decided on better overhead and accomadating temperature In the Seattle area(Redmond) I only know this because several of my friends worked there growing up as video game testers etc. From what I heard it was a fun job. The white building in Redmond is actually the same one Crash bandicoot gets arrested in front of, when he is yelling at mario to "Come out Plummer boy!"

"Color TV Game" - predecessor of NES and Nintendo's first console, its from "1977" and belongs to "Second Generation" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_TV_Game_6
