Microsoft customer support always asks questions and if the issue isn't RRoD related the original warranty applies.

  1. Stop making things up. Unless you can back that claim up against all the people that have had excellent customer support with MS and their red ringed 360's don't even bother.
  2. Please stay on topic (goes for everyone diverging to 360's and RRoD's).

1) You can read thousands of postings regarding 360 owners talking about questions asked by Microsoft customer care.

2) It's a fact DVD issues aren't covered by RRoD warranty extention.

Do some research, google is your friend.

P.S. the original post compared PS3 issues with XBox 360 issues. Just try to look at this a bit more objectively, nomatter being a 360 fan or not.

You brought up the DVD issue and actually comparing the two.

As for doing the research, try doing the research for positive customer support issues and I'm absolutely positive that you will receive just as many if not more stories. As an added bonus, I'm sure more of those are actually true.

Once again, stop making things up.

The 360's failure rates are bad enough; why does customer service have to be this bad?
http://arstechnica.com/journals/thumbs.ars/2007/2/12/7002

There are thousands of examples, google is your friend. People upset that their DVD drives aren't fixed for free, people upset by disc scratching, people upset about receiving back old launch period refurbs while their hardware is only a few months old, etc.

You don't make things up, personally I also had a bad experience with XBox customer care but that was before they warranty extension announcement.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

okay this is going to get ugly so i only have one thing to say,

lets keep it a clean brawl, no name calling, hair pulling, and nipple twisting.....READY HAHAhhhh

MikeB, the topic asked if people had similar experiences with Sony customer support, not Microsoft. If you continue posting off topic in here, I'm banning you. This is your last warning.

I replied to the original post, here's the quote I was replying to:

" I have two Xbox 360 and both are still working fine, one's even a launch console. And you SONY are making fun of MS with 3rl. AND YOU CAN"T EVEN GIVE A GOOD CUSTOMER SUPPORT. THIS IS BS.

Anyone had any experience w/ Sony support???? This is killing me. And they say PS3 is very reliable. WTF."

IMO just take a step back....

You mean to say the original post was off topic with regard to what he asked?

Did you buy it with a credit card? If you did, maybe your card offers an extended warranty. My Mastercard automatically doubles any manufacturer's warranty.

This is an excellent point, kcua!  I've known about this sort of coverage for years, yet I always forget to consider it when making major purchases.  Doh!

Did you buy your PS3 using a credit card that offers warranty extension?

No, the original post was explaining his situation, then asking his opinion on a specific instance. You gave many opinions on something that he didn't ask about. Again, you will not continue to take this off topic.

MikeB, perhaps the point is that you're not offering any useful suggestions, just arguing with the original poster.  Have a heart, man... his PS3 is busted and he's having trouble getting through to Sony.

I haven't had any similar problems with out PS3 :( so I can't really tell you what I've personally done, however, I would say call your retailer, they won't be able to send it out for you or anything, but they might have a contact you could call.
