No cause the remote play thing... which was the vita's only saving grace... is just like the ps3 where locally it works good, but remotely... its terriable

The PS4 is designed to stream stuff, it is going to work far better on the Vita

Yes it will, but it's not going to cause a sudden spike. My brother was motivated into buying a Vita due to the impending PS4 and I'm sure it will push many over the edge.

Vita sales will only get boosted when the system itself selling at $99 asap...

So ten days?

less the ps4 alone but maybe in combination with a better/faster psn and ps+.

There's no way that the PS4 will make 0 difference to the Vita sales. How much it increases by, we don't know but no chance that it sells 0 Vita.

“We strongly recommend that Remote Play be used within the same Wi-Fi network where PS4 is connected,” the FAQ states. “Remote Play may or may not work over a wide area network. For Remote Play to function over a wide area network, a robust and stable Wi-Fi connection and broadband Internet connection is required, and the local area network where PS4 is connected must be configured to permit the PS Vita system to access PS4.”

@OP:

Obviously it will, but you didn't ask by how much.
I'd guess it could be a few tens k/week more sales in the hottest periods of the year and a few k/week or less during normal and slow periods. Official and unofficial bundles could help too, official ones could give both a decent initial boost and legs, while time-limited unofficial ones made by retailers will just give spikes. Better than nothing, anyway.

Yeah, but it was crap within the same network before, that's all I meant. You had to leave your PS3 on at all times to use it and could only play 1 or 2 games. I also think with a good enough internet it will work, just probably not in an area of free public wi-fi or something.

A little bit, yes, like, it will double the normal sales for good, like, 40k to 80k every week, not much, but better than nothing.

You need to think long term. Gamers aren't forced to buy both at the same time. I could really see a lot of core gamers picking up PS4s this year, and buying Vitas next holiday. Plus Wii U should be doing better by then so multiplats between it and Vita+PS4 could become a thing.

The saviour for the vita is the vita tv. $100 is a total steal for a system but it needs more dev support now. Thankfully I could see Vita tv being a sweetspot for A and AA developers where they can flourish more with a lower budgets and not have to worry about AAA developers trying to compete with them in the portable space. The vita exactly fills in the gap by having higher budgeted titles than the 3DS while also being much cheaper than a console to develop for and hell it's even cheaper than the WII U. The vita is going to be very popular where countries are pretty poor to afford games.

Oh Vita.TV is super interesting and honestly I have no clue how the market will respond to it. This is the first time ever that a company is releasing two home consoles at the same time. It's also the first time ever that a company is releasing a home console weaker than the previous gen's home console. Also it's the first time a home console and a portable have identical games. Through in that it's the first time a home console can stream games from a different home console, and it's just crazy to try and predict its future.

But I'm kinda crazy anyway so here's my Vita.TV prediction:
Huge success!!! It manages to have its own market separate from PS3 and PS4, while blending with them as well.

Nice response. ^_^

In the short run it will move a handful, but I feel that Remote Play will finally kill any serious 3rd support, especially exclusive games will totally disappear, as devs will just say "buy it on PS4 and play remotely", so we'll only be getting small multiplat indie games. This in turn will kill Vita as an independent handheld and sales will be even lower than should the be no PS4 Remote Play.

Yes, I know I'm pesimistic, but I just don't trust Sony when it comes to Vita. They really don't seem to care about it.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.
