Forums - Gaming Discussion - Two Main Reasons I get for why to get XBox One....

People want to play with there friends whats so bad about that. If there ok with spending the money why does it matter

because if the only reason you(and your friends) are getting an xbox one is to play with your friends, you could all just get PS4s which will be cheaper, and also have the same party chat/social functions.

now do you see the flaw in that reasoning?

I take the opposite view . To be honest, at work (GameStop as well) I usually just tell people to pick whichever console their friends are on. From my perspective, the two systems are so similiar that it really is a toss up.

Part of this just comes down to personal bias in that $100 is not a big difference to me, and I really don't care for Sony 1st party as well as Microsoft's 1st party software, but when take an objective look at the PS4 and Xbox One you will quickly realize that they are far more alike than different (especially this generation with both charging for online multiplayer and both offering a bluray/ multimedia experience).

In my eyes, all of the best games of this generation were third party so it really doesn't matter to me which exclusives land on which console. My friends are mostly getting PS4's ... therefore I will get a PS4 since I can play the games I love no matter which system I choose (maybe there will be great first party this gen that I will enjoy, but I doubt it).

My personal preference would be to get an Xbox One since I was a 360 player mostly and I enjoyed that experience, but switching systems is a trivial thing to me really. Have to start sort of fresh in terms of trophies over achievements, but that is about it.

The more you work with people, the more you are disappointed in them sometimes. Yes, crowd pressure and peer pressure (not as much pressure as reinforcement, really) are very real, having worked in customer service, I encountered it frequently. Mostly with yer typical "chavs" and "dudebros" picking up iPhones like a storm? Why? "Because it's cool and all my friends have one".

It's annoying, but what can you do? If that's the peoples' reasoning, I doubt you'd change much even if you tried,

Uhg yes this^

I also hate the tablet revolution going on. It makes no sense!!!!!!! So you are telling me you have to have this $400 tablet that does the same stuff your phone does, bulkier, etc?

"But the phone has a small screen. I can barely see anything. Thats why I want a tablet"

"They have something to fix that, its called a laptop/netbook, ever heard of them? They cost half the price"

"Too big, I want something portable"

AAAAAAHHHRRRGG! My brain just fries at that point >_>.......

Don't worry Cloud, I understand you completely.

If those shoppers said their reason was to play a next gen Halo with their friends; or experience TitanFall with their friends, that would make more sense.

But as far as social features go, it looks like an even playing ground. I guess they just all want to spend more money with their friends. #Xboxlogic

I got your back man.

Currently own:

  • Ps4

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

but like you said,

if they are so much alike why go for the more expensive one (if things like achievements/trophies and exclusives mean nothing to you)? This just comes off as a logical falacy to me and makes my brain short out a bit. Two virtually identical products spec for spec(they aren't but for argumentative sake) but one will be 100bucks less up front, $10 less a year to play online, and will most likely have a host of more games that will be unavailable to the other one(even if none of them interest you it gives you more options), The one that saves me money everytime.

Basically, the 360 came out first and had better online multiplayer.

People went round to friends' houses who had the 360, played some local co-op and thought, I'll go and out and get one so we can play together online!

So basically, the 360 got the headstart and so when people wanted to get one for CoD, they got the 360 because that is what their friends had.

To switch over is harder, since by default, you'll keep the same one. You already have your profile, you already have Gold and you probably have a subscription that doesn't end in November. It's just simpler to stay with Xbox and for many people that is what they want
