I'm a pro PS4 person, but I have to admit, if that's what all your friends are getting, these systems are designed to be social, you won't want to be the odd one out.

call me old school, but i get a system for the games i like and to play games. if a friend of mine has the same system thats a bonus, but i get the system for me, not for my friends. so this just doesnt make sense. why fork out an extra 100$ for a system just because yours friends have it?

That's the oldschool way because it was before online gaming got involved and shook everything up, nowadays kids get the same consoles as their friends in order to form multiplayer teams, tourneys etc, I'm buying the PS4 regardless of what my friends get too, but i still can see why some people would want to buy the console "their friends are getting", especially if they're casuals

This is why I said months ago that all the PS4 hype wouldn't amount to as much as people thought. Many people--and this applies to Playstation customers, as well--want to keep going with what they've started. This includes friend lists and trophies/achievements. People feel like they have an investment and switching consoles would be like starting all over again. This is the big change that last generation brought and why the account system is such a valuable tool for console manufacturers.

I guess because they don't want to drop out of that social circle. Imaine if you have a COD clan, all your mates are getting one console and you're the only one getting the other.

That said, I wouldn't base my choice on that as I'm not big into multiplayer.

which again is a decision that baffles me sometimes. you can always make a new clan at halo, but you can play halo on PS. get the system for the games you like, not because of your group of friends. atleast, thats how i see it.

People want to play with there friends whats so bad about that. If there ok with spending the money why does it matter

Price is the only worthy advantage PS4 has over the X1, it is more powerful but not to the point where X1 games are going to be unplayable or it's going to miss games.

The rest, controller, OS, features, exclusives, what your friends have and what you're just naturally gravitating towards is entirely down to personal preference. So, if you have the extra $100 and don't mind spending that, for a lot of people it's a complete toss up.

I do love how people are making out PS4 is the whole package and you have to be "blind" to like Xbox One. There is very little in it.

Ya gotta agree with this comment. For me, it was mostly just down to price really. I don't see a point in shelling out an extra $100 for two consoles that are pratically the same. thats ony the intital cost of these things too, not including the games and xblg/psn + too. The ps4 and xbox one will both have great exclusives down the line anyways. So I just picked the cheaper one that happen to be more powerful xD If, it was the other way around with the xbone being $400, I would have gone with that in a blink of an eye . Then again, I do enjoy more ps exclusives more then xbox one's, but you get my point dammit! xD Well glad the ps4 was cheaper then lol. They are both a huge step hardware wise, it' isn't like the picking the wii u or anything like that.(there good for nin exclusives, but thats pretty much it). They will both have 3rd party support and thats where the majority of my gaming goes too.I had both a ps3 anbd xbox 360 this gen that have served me well. Like this gen I got the xbox 360 even though I had the ps2 last gen. The ps3 price was just horrendous!

I never understood people being like sheep and buying one just because a couple of your friends do?? I buy the games I want period,....Many people will buy xbox no matter how much better PS is, and vice versa. People are pretty much stupid lol. I by what serves me best, I owned 360, Ps3, wii, ps2, Xbox, Sega, nintendo..Don't care. Why people take allegiance to one company is down right moronic.

This reminds of this conversation I had at Gamestop a while ago:
"Do you want to pre-order any games today?"
No, I'm good.
"Are you sure? Ghosts? Battlefield, Mario 3D World?
No, thank you?
"Pokemon X, or Y"
Pre-ordered them in February."
And then they badger you about the card, etc. It all boils down to opinion and what one wants as a consumer. Also, they may not have wanted to give you their specific reason? Maybe they were put on the spot? If someone continued to ask me question after question regarding my choice of system, I'd be annoyed.

The more you work with people, the more you are disappointed in them sometimes. Yes, crowd pressure and peer pressure (not as much pressure as reinforcement, really) are very real, having worked in customer service, I encountered it frequently. Mostly with yer typical "chavs" and "dudebros" picking up iPhones like a storm? Why? "Because it's cool and all my friends have one".

It's annoying, but what can you do? If that's the peoples' reasoning, I doubt you'd change much even if you tried,

Sounds to me i wouldnt want to shop for you. That kind of stuff is annoying honestly and it sounds like your opinion is the only right one in your head. Just let people buy what they want.

Of course MY opinon is ithe only right one in my head, thats how I came to that opinion.

I am not telling people what they should buy, I find customers are far happier if you let them come to that conclusion on their own. I just wish they would use stronger logic into their purchases. I do personally believe saying "thats what my friends have" is an excuse to not think for yourself, like a lemming.
