Forums - Gaming Discussion - 2014 may be the most amazing year in gaming history

WOW, no witcher 3 or dark souls II OP?? You disappoint. Witcher 3 looks better then all you listed imo.

This is what im talking about from the other thread, Sony fans can say whatever they like on this site and get away with it, yet if a Microsoft fan and especially Nintendo fan says anything slightly out of context, BANNED!

Umm no,  just no,

Hmm... this year has been pretty spectacular though. Its gonna be difficult to top it.

Yeah, the hypotetical Black Ops 3, Uncharted 4 and Metal Gear Solid V (when we haven´t even gotten a release year) are on the list....but the confirmed games for the WiiU and XBone are swept under the rug.

Bayonetta 2

Yarn Yoshi

Donkey Kong TF

Xenoblade 2

Yeah, just like every other year...

Seriously, people say this EVERY YEAR.

It's gonna be an amazing year no doubt. Lots of time will be spent in front of the TV lol

Donkey Kong Country, Bayonetta 2, X, Mario Kart 8, Yarn Yoshi... this could well top 2010 as the greatest gaming year of my life.

I don't get this OP. I guess I understand if you think Microsoft and Nintendo have nothing to offer, but wouldn't you list those games any way, if only to bolster your argument that 2014 is the greatest year? Games like Tropical Freeze, Bayonetta 2, Kinect Sports Rivals, and Yoshi's New Island would only strengthen your case. Unannounced games, like Uncharted 4 and Black Ops 3, and upscaled ports, like The Last of Us and Gran Turismo, do not.

I guess it's a moot point any way, since I disagree about 2014 being the greatest year. 1998 holds that record and I'd be shocked if 2014 dislodged it. Games have been getting worse, not better.

Good point.

Though again, I'd feel pretty comfortable putting 1991 up against 1998.

For that matter, 1993 was a pretty damn good year: Star Fox, MKII, Myst, Doom, Samurai Shodown 1, Super Mario All-Stars, X-Wing, Kirby's Adventure, Ridge Racer 1, Secret of Mana, Sonic CD, Virtua Fighter 1, Shining Force, Rocket Knight Adventures, Link's Awakening, World Heroes 2, etc.

Or hell, 1994: Super Metroid, Mega Man X, Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Killer Instinct (arcade), Donkey Kong Country, Demon's Crest, Sonic 3, Samurai Shodown II (arcade), Breath of Fire, Shining Force II, Illusion of Gaia, Star Tropics 2, Earthworm Jim, Darkstalkers, Doom II, Tekken, KoF '94, Castlevania: Bloodlines, plus the Saturn came out.

I mean there were some really fuckin great years in the 90s....that whole decade was honestly bad ass for gaming.

Good choices. 1991 is a hell of a year, especially with gems like Super Mario World and F-Zero and influential titles like Final Fantasy II and Street Fighter II.

1994 is great too. Super Metroid, Final Fantasy III, Donkey Kong Country, and Super Street Fighter II in the same year? Talk about loaded.

The 90s really were a golden age of game design.
