8/10 great...
I wanted the 2 version to be released Oct/NOv together, but 3DS earlier does make sense.
We will all have prefered the WiiU version as first buy
so this way they can ship extra softwares for 3DS.

...and maybe there are other WiiU gems/surprises to be unveiled in summer....

Rating the smash direct an 8.

It delivered on the launch windows (although I'd have preferred an earlier Wii U date), 5 new characters, showing off tonnes of info about everything, loving the look of online, new game mode in 3DS, brief showing of custom movesets, and customary Sakurai trolling.

Only 2 misses from my perspective: I wanted to know about the singleplayer modes, and more brand new characters.

Yes, 5 reveals is awesome, and I genuinely love that Sheik and ZSS are proper characters now. Greninja looks awesome (and you gotta love how he originally looked like Mewtwo, that Sakurai is one troll bastard). But I kinda wanted to see Lucina, or Shulk, or Palutena; someone a bit more left field.

Still a good direct though (although not as good as the W101 Direct) and I'm looking forward to watching it again tonight.

I'm a fan of Nintendo games and Smash, but I feel this Direct was unnecessary and empty. All this information could be pressed into 5-7 minutes as a part of a normal Nintendo Direct. And the absence of any info from Nintendo make me afraid that their games list for 2014 is absolutely empty with nothing to show currently.

Also the 'winter' release window for WiiU version looks strange. So the game may not be out until start of 2015?

On the bright side it seems that the new screenshots from WiiU version are 1080 native, which is nice.

could have been tacked onto a real direct.

40 minutes is a lot to be "tacked onto" a "real direct", though. I agree that it could have been shortened, but what was shown was (mostly) excellent so I can't really complain.

Seriously though this was a great direct for a Smash Bros fan, gave us great insight into the game. The only thing that would be better is a demo

they could have shown all that in 10mins. It was a dissapointing diret cause it just shows they got nothing to dave the wii u. Look at AUS wtf are we getting on time and/or on Wii U these days here lol. YOu can fit all the game releases on WIi U onto one page on ebgames site. The other consoles are pages of preorders.

I thought it was wonderful! Lots of cool info, great smash music, cool "new" characters and stages, not to mention a funny Sakurai.

I award it 7/7 asses, or in layman's terms tenouttaten!

Shoulda rolled tho.

To anyone complaining about the Direct. They were clearly just getting the stuff we already know and low tier informations out of the way so they can blow us away at E3! (hopefully!)
