They put out a lot of Smash commercials, but for every 3 3DS commercials, there was 1 Wii U commercial from my experience. They have there priorities and marketing the Wii U has not been one. All they have done is make cheap commercials that only connect to parents of kids channels. They have not ventured out and done much else. I have seen a few ads on gaming site for there games, but that's very rare. It's also hard to advertise with lack of compelling diverse line up. "look everyone, you can draw lines on the gamepad in a kirby game!!!! YAH!" |
The biggest difference between the Wii's marketting and the Wii U's marketting is that you can't know what the Wii U is just by looking at it.
With the Wii you saw people playing with it and it clicked immediately. You need hands on to understand the Wii U. And the Marketing department at Nintendo was having the problem of how to show it off.
