Sure they did..you believe them? Or do you think it likely Nintendo's business side 'nudged' them tto make DKC instead of say, Metroid?

Point being, you don't have hard evidence to back up this conspiracy theory.

Conspiracy Theory? Their best selling game was DKC, you think Retro has the power to 'choose' what games they want to make? Conspiracy theory lol.

The problem I have here is that you seem to believe that it's impossible for Retro Studios to want to develop another DKC game.

Now that Yamauchi is dead I don't see Iwata being there for long.

Nintendo is a bunch of old folks stuck in their ways who clearly cannot learn in the face of failure and just repeat and rehash.

When Iwata goes and at some point Miyamoto Nintendo going to start doing some new things.

Which failure haven't they learned from?

Well, to be honest its possible to recover from it, but its gonna cost Nintendo money. If they cut the price even more, im sure many people would buy it. Thats the simple way to solve the problem.

I think the money would be better spend aquiring SEGA though.

I thought he said he would resign if they kept doing badly?

He went on to say he was misquoted

So this isn't his fault? The blame for this must lie somewhere

Not only his fault.I´m not sure, but the important decisions seem to come from Miyamoto and Genyo Takeda. They probably are to blame as well.

I agree with Iwata, this holiday is make it or break it for the U. If nobody buys it, then it looks like the low-end disruption strategy was a fad. People may want the latest and greatest.

Whether the U climbs back up or not, Nintendo indeed has a lot to improve in how it markets its games. It's just not a socially relevant company in the west like it is in Japan, or like Sony is in Europe and the states.

The key though is that Iwata being fired may never change what Nintendo has failed to fix since the NES days. The Wii was a fresh break, but wasn't the NES, and Nintendo's relevance can only change with proper marketing and the right offerings. Right now that's not happening.

Who else agree that Mr.Iwata should step down as CEO and go back to doing developing.

Don’t follow the hype, follow the games

Yeah, they probably start to lose out because trying to be to similar to other consoles. In fact, the trouble with WiiU is, they tried that path and ditched everything they learned from the success of the Wii.

Sony also posted a loss, should Kaz step down too? They could go hand holding to a cliff and throw themselves there! xD

For NOE, i dont feel Shibata is the right person. Perhaps he should be replaced by someone who have a deep understanding of the euro market? But who would that be? The only one who comes to mind is Phil Harrison, but he's with MS now.

I agree with this. NOE is in need of an overhaul moreso than any other area right now.

Well, Shibata brings us here in Europe the games America often misses out on. We played the rainfall games while America was begging. I don't think Shibata does that bad.

The only way for Nintendo to win is to move their 8-12 year old target audience to the 12-18 year old range.

The only way for Nintendo to win is to move their 30-45 year old target audience to the 6-60 year old range.

Don't forget we talk about the WiiU here. In no way the games released on the device have a 8-12 target-audience, which games are geared at kids? All I see is retro-fun, geared at the now adult gamers that have nice memories of the older times of gaming. Look at the evidence: Pikmin 3, WWHD, NSMBU, Rayman Legends, Sonic Last Worlds, W101 (despite a new game, it has the cool old-game experience), Lego City Undercover (really, full of gags about movies older than the target group you are talking about), Batman. No, the WiiU is clearly designed for grown up gamers from the 80s and 90s. The Wii in difference was targeted at nearly every age group.
