Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Iwata Is Naturally Unhappy With Q2 2014 Results, But Claims Major Overhaul Isn’t Necessary

I don't want to sound like a dick, but do you have the feeling Mr. Iwata could be on his way out of the CEO position for someone to take his place?

Don’t follow the hype, follow the games

Here a little quote I want for those to keep memorize in your head for this coming next gen.

I think Iwata is too nice for his own good...I'd like to see a more aggressive Nintendo leader that isn't scared to go head to head with the competition.

Possibly. Now that Yamauchi is not around, the shareholders will have much more weight and if they're pissed at Iwata he could find himself in trouble.

I think this is actually the peak 3DS period too ... after this the 3DS will see declines year over year for the remainder of its life cycle, after NSMB2/Mario 3D World/Pokemon X/Y/Monster Hunter 4/DQVII/Mario Kart 7 ... they've spent most of their big guns.

The best solution to a problem is to fire someone!

"I've Underestimated the Horse Power from Mario Kart 8, I'll Never Doubt the WiiU's Engine Again"

Business is a results business and if you are not doing the business with the results best to move on.

My CEO love that phrase. Cold but true.

I wouldn't fire Iwata, but I would decrease his power and hire someone at NOA who knows what they're doing and has real power to actually do things like greenlight software titles and shape marketing. That person would then be able to work with Iwata to make up for areas in which the Japanese side is deficient. I would also bring on board a high level Western marketing person(s).

The board of directors at Nintendo should be overhauled with younger execs and even Western voices. Too many old Japanese suits who are stuck in 1992 trying to make decisions in a industry geared to 14-32 year old males is a recipe for disaster.

You took the words out of my mouth.  I would like to see Nintendo diversify themselves again.

Dude's tripping. But its not just him. But as preisdent he should be able to reign in his troops. Every dev at Nintendo (save for Retro) has been given the priveledge to find their inner Picaso, and not bend toward commercial interests. Unreal.

I hope this is just lip service, he can't be that naive.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

The upcoming 12-month period will likely be the 3DS's hardware peak, yes. But software sales (and thus profits) will continue to grow for several more years. That's how the console cycle works. The truth is that the 3DS will be making Nintendo way more money in 2015 when it's selling fewer hardware units but way more software than it is this year.

That kinda makes sense. Food for thought. Good post.
