This thread really shows who just visits threads for drive-by posts

Yup.

@OP One of the more recent soundtracks I loved was FF XII. Although it isn't as memorable as some other soundtracks, it was brilliantly orchestrated.

XIII was also good. I agree, SE soundtracks are awesome.

The way I'm learning piano is actually by humming FF songs and by playing what I hear when I humm :P

I would say Monolith Soft makes music of the same quality. However that's only one game to compare to a series of games with awesome music.

Are you saying Monolith Soft has only developed one game? Xenosaga and Baiten Kaitos has amazing soundtracks as well. :P

I don't doubt you, but I haven't played those games. I doubt they can reach Xenoblade though. It's by far my favourite soundtrack! I still doubt though that those games can be enough to push square down from the vg music throne.

Xenoblade has my favorite soundtrack, too. And is one of the reasons why I think Square-Enix recent efforts (music and otherwise) are falling behind.

Agreed and also before this gen, I think they were almost the best in the industry overall.

Take my love, take my land..

Those Loveless Acts always give me goose bumps.. The first FF game i've ever tried. And then i dived into the old school ones from I to IV. Wish they could just make classic FF games which are easier to make and could sell millions..

Here's the version recited by Genesis

This was one of my favorite FF games.

FF7 was Squaresoft, not Square Enix. While Square Enix is a successor company, there are several key differences that make it very different. Notably the personnel.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

liked it when there were 2 companys. Squaresoft & Enix
They were the shit then, both of em.

now, they are a pile of 'meh'

Um old Square yes.

Modern SE can go die for all I care.

So. Much. This.

God I miss SNES and PS1. When games had incredible unforgettable stories and weren't just abused and exploited franchises catering to the lowest common denominator and trying to attract Call of Duty players... When a game could sell under 1 million units and still be profitable because the company wasn't overrun by stuffed suit investors and bureaucratic bloat that don't care about games.

It appeared to be the hull of a colossal spacecraft some 30 kelts in diameter. Judging by the condition of the wreckage we estimated it to be about 10,000 years old...

seriously when it comes to music Nintendo, Sega, Konami and probably even Capcom are way better than square enix...

even sid meiers music is better, man the civilization one music was awesome

probably even Techno, Data East, SNK, Ocean were all better in the music department...

there are probably at least 100 gaming companies that made better music
