Nope. Graphics are just a bonus, I won't throw away a far better overall gaming experience for slightly better graphics. I want controllers, console exclusives, a dedicated gaming OS, no unexplained frame-rate drops and no Origin.

Besides, building a PC to match the performance of the PS4 or even the Xbox One would cost considerably more.

So much misinformed information here.

Slightly better graphics? False.

No controllers? False

PC doesnt have exclusives? False

Dedicated gaming OS? False these console do more than play games now plus Valve released one

No unexplained frame rate drops? Seriously? Few console games have locked FPS

Expensive to build a PC to match? Really? You really do not know much about PCs do you?

PS4 and X1 are using chips for mobile devices. For BF4 for example, you only need a quad core PC. I can build a PC superior to PS4 for around 500. and get free online.

I like the console games for what they are. They don't replace the games I play on PC or vice versa. I need ALL of them!

It is near the end of the end....

There are a large group of people who love to play games, but dont want/to dumb to put together a gaming PC. They dont want to have to read up on the hardware, figure out the best otions then piece it all together. They dont want to keep upgrading parts every so often.. They want to buy a box and will play great games for the next 7 years. So these people, Who want to play games, but wont buy a gaming PC are naturally only going to get a console. Now it is a decision on which console to get. 2 things come into play, Game selection, and console power.

"Consoles are about three things: convenience, exclusivity, and the couch. "

Yes they are, But when you have 2 consoles that provide those 3, You start looking for ways to differentiate. Performance its obviously going to be very high.
Consoles themselves might not be about the graphics, but that doesnt mean once you settle on going console instead, you need to settle with sub par graphics.

"Hes the clown that makes the dark side fun.. Torgo!"

Ha.. i won my bet, but i wasnt around to gloat because im on a better forum!  See ya guys on Viz

Not going to happen, I'll never give up my console gaming. After seeing AC IV running on PS4 vs PS3 and seeing barely any difference I'm convinced that waiting for next gen was the best choice to do. I'll jump in next year when real next gen games start showing up.

While I agree that resolution isn't everything and the quality (and more importantly, fun) of a game can't be measured just by its graphics, there are 2 things that I can't help but comment.

"On a big-screen TV the difference is certainly going to be hard to spot." Actually, it's the other way around. The bigger a TV is, the easier it is to see each pixel and therefore the bigger a TV is, the easier is to notice a difference between 720p and 1080p. Those with +50" TVs will be able to notice it. Hell, maybe even those with +40" TVs will.

"Consoles are about three things: convenience, exclusivity, and the couch. They’re convenient because they simply plug and play. There’s no fuss. All games made for a console simply work without fiddling, drivers updates, and so forth." Does he really play videogames? Because there has been lots of games that required a day 1 patch to work, or had to make some installation before starting to play, etc. The "plug and play" advantage that consoles had, died this last gen.

That's what I'm planning to do and play some games like Amnesia or The Witcher series. Also of course Mass Effect. Can I play those with X360/Xbone controllers?

*Nods*

Thanks. I'll ask to a friend for a 360 controller.

So much misreading too. First off, I built a gaming PC around 18 months ago that cost me £550.

- Battlefield 3 on High on my gaming PC barely looks any better than Uncharted 3 and The Last of Us, in my opinion. It's not even comparable to the leap into next-gen. I'd say "slightly better graphics" is a very fitting description.
- A lot of PC games don't have native controller support, even those that do aren't all that great. Playing Battlefield 3 with a wired 360 controller was a horrible experience, the buttons weren't even mapped correctly, and the input lag made the game unplayable.
- Please underline where I said PC had no exclusives.
- I don't understand what you're getting at. Windows isn't a dedicated gaming OS.
- The frame-drops I refer to are caused by bugs, not hardware constraints. Like in Battlefield 3, where one particular map will run at 20fps for absolutely no good reason when all the others run at 50fps. Console games do generally have a lower frame-rate, but at least it's consistent and motion blurring and filters are used.
- I already told you about the cost of building my gaming PC. Find a theoretical PC build that can run Battlefield 4 on high at 900p for less than £350.

I don't mean to rip on PC so much, I'm just pointing out why it is far too inconvenient and expensive to become my main gaming platform.

If you want to use a wireless controller, you'll have to buy an adaptor.

The wired controller is just plug and play.

I see. When the time comes maybe I'll ask about other technical doubts that surely will have.
